Three reasons why we are losing this game, we're being:
1. out bowled
2. out batted
3. out fielded

India are doing the basics so much better than us.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I'm old enough to remember when we were good at cricket.

I'd probably rather see Renshaw ahead of Bancroft.

I think as soon as Renshaw makes runs for Queensland again he'll be picked for Australia.

His temperament at the crease is just so much better than the rest of the Australian batsmen.

And the Mitch Marsh one as well!
Both should never play again for Australia at Test level.

Correct.... but there is no one else. Nothing. Zilch. Zippo. And thats our perennial problem. As it is Head and Harris are playing ahead of their time. Only Ussie is a Test batsman of note. And he isnt in great nick.
There are still better all-rounder options than Mitch Marsh, like Maxwell or Stoinis.

There is simply no justification for picking Mitch. He has neither the talent nor the form nor the runs/wickets on the board nor the potential, given his age.

Stoinis would be my pick but hes injured.
Maxwell wld not be able to provide enough overs without being carted and is less reliable than Marsh.[/quote]Stoinis injured? He played in the Sixes v Stars BBL match last night

Any truth to the rumour there's an emergency board meeting occurring right now to rescind the bans on Warner and Smith???

Pujara faced 319 balls in his innings

So far all of our batsman have faced a total of 296 balls

There lies the difference

i doubt those two will make any difference, alot different being out the game for a while and facing mickey mouse attacks in grade cricket or some backblock T20 comp and getting cheap runs.

Personally i hope Warner never plays for Australia again, he betrayed the ethics of the game and embarrassed our country

You can't be serious. Having Smith and Warner back in the team would make a massive difference. If or when this happens is a different issue. Smith is light years ahead of any of our current bats and Warner light years ahead of any other Australian opener.

Harsha Bhogle has his own take.

“Australia might have to go back to Sheffield Shield cricket to search for top order batsmen
. This is the easiest time ever to break into the Aussie side as a batsman. “Having said that, this is also the best seam bowling combination from India to visit Australia. “With every minute, Pujara's innings looks more valuable.”

If only we were smart enough to keep playing it at the right time!

Smith averages 61 and Warner 48, but you reckon they couldn't do any better than Aaron Finch or Mitch Marsh.

Well you reap what you sow, and now we are seeing the “rewards” of CA messing with the domestic competition.. watering down the ODD format and placing massive emphasis on the T20 stuff.

Greg Chappel’s sickening obsession with being the one to find the “next big talent” has seen young players come and go, or pushed into the deep end too early and flounder.

Sheffield Shield was a premier competition, now it’s a joke.

Get used to it, T20 is the cash cow that’s here to stay and we will continue to go backwards as a nation.

I get what you’re saying but are we messing with our comp any more than other countries.

I genuinely don’t know the answer

I can’t think of any other nation that builds its season around its T20 comp at the detriment of their longer format stuff.

It’s not only the format set up - it’s the attempt to fast track talent with the CA squads including the CA XI for a couple seasons in the ODD, it’s the emphasis placed on performance in short form cricket being a higher importance than long form... take Handscomb - blasts 70 last night in a T20 on a small ground against an average attack and he’s the talk of the nation again.

Fleming literally just said “best thing he could do after struggling against the red ball is go hit some balls against the white ball - and he did”
