IS it just me or do the crowds seem down this year. Has the bubble burst or at best plateaued with T20. or is this a sign of what happened in Seth Efrica (when Cricket Australia showed some leadership and took a strong stance on ball tampering unlike other nations (Seth Efrica Poms) ;) ) means cricket is on the "nose" in Oz.

42000 last night when normally it's nudging the 50 000 mark on NYE.

Against the Melbourne red team 34 000 showed up, when 40 000 could ahve been expected for night one following a 1st up win.

The other matches when watching on tv don't seen to be as well patronised compared to earlier BBL seasons.

Has the T20 market been over saturised by extending the season?
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I read crowds are down 10k on 2 years ago. Can't find the source at the moment but from 16/17 - 17/18 was 30,114 to 26,531

Sandpaper gate hasn't helped
The standard of play has not helped, there have been few entertaining games.
The extremely long season has not helped.

Have ticket prices increased?

Crowds are also down for County Clubs.....yet the ECB are going with a 'franchise' system next year.......they're killing the golden goose!

My two favourite commentators Dirk Nannes and Simon Katich are now on channel 7 coming from ABC Radio, tonight's match is the first time I've heard/seen Nannes on channel 7.

Then I see that they've got that f**king Weasel Sam McClure as the boundary commentator, FFS channel 7 thought I'd only have to deal with seeing his mug during footy season, not all year round.

Until the circus is resolved with Sandpapergate then the cricket will suffer including crowds. People are still funny about what happened and the way it was dealt with afterwards was worse.

During the week having Bancroft and Smith speak just makes it worse. Suck it up, get the initial thing off your chest, shut up, cop it on the chin (Eventhough it was a disgraceful length ban) and move on. They don’t need to explain anything further, the team is bigger than them opening their gob.

The ONLY thing imo CA has done right is not throwing out talented young players in the deep end right now. If they fed them to the lions now we would have wrecked the next crop too. Until we get back the full strength team we will be a train wreck more often than not.

P.S- Piss that underachieving, pea hearted, Test Average of 31 Rhodesian batting coach off. Our batting line up resembles his International career. Who in their right mind thinks that hiring a guy who couldn’t hit it off the square as a player against anyone semi-decent is a good idea?
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

8 teams. This coming season will be the last where every county club is represented.

Yep, and a 14 game H+A season is 6 too many. Crowds were always going to slip a little with saturation of the product.
