Ashwin failed the fitness test, so won't play.

So, who opens with Harris?

More than happy to see Burns come in for Finch - Indians have worked Finch out (like Handscomb) and it doesn't matter where he would bat in the next Test - he would still get dismissed cheaply.

M Marsh should not be picked - clearly that 3 he scored in the BBL match prior to the MCG Test was pretty good but he needs to play some Shield games in March and get maybe a 9 or a 17 under his belt before returning to the Test scene. Happy to try Labuschagne at #6 for SCG.

I don't like Wade - has too much of the Warner gene in him...

Well put, agree 100%.

So if it is Labuschagne for Finch, what does that do to our batting order?

Means we have 6 bowling options too?

1 - Harris
2 - Khawaja
3 - S Marsh
4 - Paine
5 - Head
6 - Labuschagne
7 - Cummins
8 - M Marsh
9 - Starc
10 - Gaz
11 - Josh

I couldn't possibly describe the above as balanced.

I can't see them making two changes, but given his poor stats since the warner left, does Starc miss out?

That side will be bowled out inside 2 sessions on the SCG.
Need another batter instead of M.Marsh.

If Paine is batting any higher than 7 we are in a world of strife. no's 4-8 all capable of a solid 25 or 30, what a fn joke

If FInch is out everyone will just slide up one, can't see Paine batting at 4

Harris
Khawaja
Marsh
Head
Labuschagne
Marsh
Paine

Looks terrible to be honest.

Maybe with having 2 extra bowlers we can lighten the load on Cummins and bat him at 4 ;)

Feel a bit sorry for Finch. He's probably not a test batsman but he never really got a chance, being thrown in as an opener.

If his name was Aaron Marsh he'd have gotten another 25 tests.

So Handscomb in as well, M Marsh out, improves it a bit but still not great.

Interesting the comments from Paine about 'having guys bat where they will once the bans are lifted'.

Does that mean both are expected to come in?

1 - Harris
2 - S Marsh (Warner)
3 - Khawaja
4 - Handscomb (Smith)
5 - Head
6 - Labuschagne (three way rotation with SMarsh & MMarsh - depending on conditions)
7 - Paine
8 - Cummins
9 - Starc
10 - Gaz
11 - Josh

Mmarsh Finch

for

Handscomb Labuschagne

Not sure if that makes us stronger or weaker? Handscomb didn't look like making a run and Labuschagne has not made a run. If we are relying on Labuschagne' bowling we are worse than Zimbabwe.

Labuschagne to bat at 3

Wow

If this is true it's grossly unfair on Labuschagne. Who are they protecting by batting him at 3. Lamb to the slaughter. Where is the leadership in this team. If Khawaja opens, Marsh must bat 3, Handscombe 4, Head 5 and Labuschagne 6. Anything else is crazy IMO.

Labuschagne to bat at 3

Wow

F**k me, nothing against Labuschagne because I'd rather him in the side than Mitch Marsh everyday of the week but there's no way he should be at three. Trav or Handscomb should be at 3 before Marnus. Shaun Marsh probably doesn't want to be at three after spudding it up at number three against Pakistan.
