Absolutely.. doesn't matter how much the game changes with bats or inventive shots, to be successful at test level and ultimately help your team win, you need to be able to bat long periods of time.

Same as Melbourne, he'll bat two days if he has to, grind the Australian bowlers into the dirt, tire out the fielders, and then India will strike with the ball.

Bat two days for 500, bowl when the pitch isn't at it's best, build a 1st innings lead.. recipe to win most tests.

Plus they don't need Pujara to score quick - blokes like Pant, Kholi and Jadeja can catch up balls easy enough and accelerate the scoring.

An average of 33 in 2018 should have his position under scrutiny.

A few of our top 6 would take that with both hands.

Fantastic leadership shown by Australia early on when there was actually something in the pitch and a little bit of movement yet persist with the pathetic plan of the ‘friendly Short stuff’ that my Nanna would make runs off.

IMO Australian cricket can not get any lower and it all starts at the top. A fish rots from the head. Full clean out needed.

Hang on.

On Field: New Captain and Vice.
Off Field: New Coach and assistants.
Oversight: New Chairman of Selectors and other selectors.
Boardroom: New Chair and turnover of directors.

Where else do you want a cleanout?
