Head doesn't get over the ball with a straight back leg hitting it down into the ground through point. He hits it with a bent back leg collapsing in the shot and you get what he did in Perth, two skied catches to 3rd man. When was the last time one of our test batsman got caught twice in a match at 3rd man? Perth, 2018, that's when.

What that shows is our coaching from the ground up no longer looks to the tried and tested "text book" batting methods, instead it looks to how runs can be scored the fastest > T20.

Example Handscomb ! who taught him to bat?Harris has he never seen short pitched bowling? could you imagine him in the windies era B-(

Handscomb is an excellent example. The commentators spoke about how he went away ( for 2 weeks mid series, mind you ) and made changes to his game. He ******* didn't. All he did was move a foot away from the stumps and why the **** is a bloke in a baggy green making changes mid series?

I had Twitter exchange with Trent Copeland who said he "...went and free'd the mind up..." in his 70 odd in the BBL. Laughable, there's no such thing as a failure with the bat in T20, to suggest he could "free his mind" in that circus is hard to believe. Of course he could!

This from guru Robert Cradock in the mornings paper:

...most of the (Indian) players who did the business come from humble backgrounds and their struggles to reach the top hardened them for a rough road.

This is my point. We have a far easier lifestyle than ever beforr and a society where there are a million and one distractions which allure potential champions from reaching their zenith. In many ways thats what makes Australia great. But the same societal traits that ensure we are one of the most livable nations on the planet also means our society is far less able to create another Steve Waugh or Allan Border.
Meanwhile the Indians will only get better.

This is also our downfall in other sports such as Tennis where millennials such as Tomic and Kyrgios are fulfilled with half arsed achievements in the knowledge they dont need to sacrifice any more than the minimal effort.

Q will be along to defend the lefties and the apparent new breed of super milinials.

And yes I believes today's generation is entitled.

I must say the highlight of the Sydney Test for me was the "local heroes" segments they played during the rain delays.

There was one about the Mosey's from Eudunda/Robertstown the other day, then the Faith Coulthard one yesterday, I love watching and reading stuff like that, everyone has a unique story behind themselves.

So what's everyone's starting 11 for the first test v SL in a couple weeks? My guess is they will go with the following

Harris
Burns
Uzie
Marnus
Head/S Marsh
Handscomb
Paine
Cummins
Hazelwood
Lyon
Starc (but if poor I'd debut someone game 2 Boland or Tremain most likely)
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Could you play say Hazelwood, Cummins, Lyon, then two all-rounders, Stoinis and Marnus?

Starc has been poor and the above would help cover the batting troubles.

Head
Handscomb
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazlewood

I think the selectors are that silly they will keep the same team.
