By Port Adelaide standards underachieving, for sure. Extremely disappointing? A stretch I reckon when Carlton, St Kilda and Fremantle exist.

Brett Montgomery quoted in this mornings paper: " Port will take its time on the sole or co captaincy options".

Wines and Jonas?

Wines and Jonas are the two that it will come down to, yes.

Jonas has just turned 28, is it ideal to give the captaincy to a bloke who may only be at his peak for another 2,3 maybe 4 years tops or do you give it to Wines who, at 24, could hold the job for 7 or 8 years?

Alternatively do you have joint captains for 2-3 years and then when Jonas steps down Wines assume the mantle on his own?

My gut feel is we will have co-captains in 2019, however, if we run with the sole captain I think it will be Wines.

Do you think Wines will be disappointed if he doesn't get it, given he's been spruiked as the next in line for a while and seemed to be an aspect mentioned during his last contract negotiations?

Kockhead Kornes had no problems with Crows annoucing co-captains so Port are going to do the same.

I doubt any clubs entertain leadership positions in contract negotiations, if you need to be told you'll be captain to stay you can FRO.

He'll either be captain or co-captain, I can't see Jonas getting the job on his own.

I cant see Port going down the co-captain path. Only one player can wear the number 1 jumper.

I was talking about this to a Port mate last night. What if they have co-captains and the game day captain (who tosses the coin) wears no.1 and the other captain wears their original number and it alternates. Not likely to happen but an option.

Maybe they could swap Guernsey’s at half time and only play a half each.

If I had to ( ;) ) I'd say the 2001-2004 period where we went 69 wins / 19 losses was a pretty dominant period, in the modern era not many sides would have that W/L across a 4 year or longer period, 1 more flag in that time might make the argument against Russell's comments more substantial, however since then we've been average at best.

Finals 10 of 22 seasons but only 3 of the last 11 makes for average.

Be interesting to look at finals series, by club, since '97.

11 finals victories in 21years.

1 flag

With about $30-$40 mill worth of grants and still just keeping head above the water.

It’s fair to say pafc in the afl has been a total Koch up!!

Absolutely have underachieved since joining the AFL. It is written on the walls in the inner sanctum “we exist to win premierships” so every year is a failure if we don’t win the flag.

Absolutely .. I reckon the bloke can be petulant at times and behave like a flog, BUT, he does raise some good points and provides his reasoning.
I have had this discussion with so many people and they can't see it. Kane Cornes is a port flog they cry, each time and they urge to get to Twitter to have a go st him.

I keep saying, he's like a bloody Kardashian, You are the one making him famous.

Port flog they cry, port flog and they must get to Twitter as soon as possible to right the wrongs.
