A good work out for Labuschagne Head Patterson and Harris. Great signs from "Jimmy" Richardson and Cummins.

Biggest let downs are the continued below expectation performances from Uzzie and Starc. Burns still looks unlikely at this level. IMO so does Harris... his determination is his strength.

Pat Cummins has had a good summer, he looms as a big key for us for the Ashes.

Burned doesn't though. He nicks them when they start moving. Lakmal' s spell was great last night. Under lights in Brisbane with the pink ball is what we can expect in England.

“The National Selection Panel has made the decision to add Marcus Stoinis to the Test squad for the second match against Sri Lanka in Canberra,” the release said.

“We made the decision to add Marcus to give us the flexibility to play an all-rounder in the event the conditions require an extra bowling option in the line-up.

“Marcus has been a consistent performer this season, he has displayed strong all round form in First Class cricket and continued that form into the Australian ODI series against India.

“We’ve also decided to release Matt Renshaw from the squad so he can be available for the Brisbane Heat in their upcoming BBL fixtures.”

I'm a Stoinis fan but I can't fathom why he needs to be added to the squad at such late notice. Keep the same team for the next test match FFS.

Canberra pitch has generally been a road in all one day & shield games held there hasn’t it? That would be there thinking behind maybe needing an all rounder. Could probably risk it v Sri Lanka as their batting is so weak & just play the 4 bowlers.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

If Sri Lanka put up half a fight then we'd have the last day of the test
