Watching the VFL 77 draw. Good, tough footy. What a pitiful shadow of it AFL is today.

Getting 24 nice big blueys out in the boat yesterday.

Getting home for a swim as I steamed the above blueys.

Another swim while they sat in ice water after steaming.

Eating 4 of them with 4 beers before I fell asleep on the lounge.

Day. Well. Spent.

Treated ourselves and took the Friday off last week to make it a four dayer. I usually let other staff have that, but f**k em.

We headed up to Clare again. This time for the Aus Day stuff.

On Saturday morning, we went down to the park named for Mrs HH3s family, and had a free breakfast put on by the town. Live music and lots of old people in Aussie garb.

After that was done, the real fun started.

We piled into a couple of cars, and went down to Auburn for some mini golf. Myself and my nieces boyfriend got super competitive.

The young buck ended up winning. C**t.

Then off to a wine tasting tour. The first stop was O'Learys. Im not a wine fan, but I was almost stumbling leaving that place. We had a strategy. If we were asked if we wanted to taste something, we could only reply "Yes".

After four places, and trying basically every wine on every list, plus a few craft beers, I was blackout drunk, and missed the dinner reservation, opting to die in bed.

The four places we went were O'Learys, Clare Valley Brewing Co, Sevenhill and Pikes.

We're already scouting the next circuit.

Caught a feed of blueys raking at Sims Cove & off the Pt Hughes jetty on Friday.
My daughters hadn’t tried them before but were keen. My Dad cooked them up, newspaper laid out on the table, crabs in one big pot in the middle, couple of tinnies - away we go!
Miss 6 & Miss 8 loved them. The look of pride on my old man’s face was priceless.

Dad's and Grand daughters mate, my old man was tough as nails and the only time I ever seen him cry growing up was when he got home from my Pops funeral, he was always away truck driving and we didn't see him much, even when was diagnosed with cancer he didn't want us to see him after chemo or when he felt shit but he still drove when they let him up until a few weeks before dying.

One day when he gave me the OK to go pay him a visit in hospital I arranged my oldest daughter to come with me, he broke down in a heap when she walked in, the look on his face is still vivid in my memories of him.

The fun police and I were just talking about the "white knights" the other day, they were accompanied by the "toffee apples" and "choo choo bars", might of had the flat redskins too.

Taking my girls to their first AFL game this year... I wanted take them to Melbourne to watch a swans game, but with my footy and the chances of the byes lining up properly were pretty slim. But the last weekend I have off before the end of the season lines up nicely for the bombers vs swans game at the G... A Saturday arvo game.. Not sure the girls will like that much but taking my girls to the MCG for a game is huge on my bucket list... Plus spend a couple of days together over there

You’ll all have a ball, mate. I’ve taken both my daughters (1 is North, the other West Coast like Mum) to games here, Melb & Tassie.
Miss Roo & I are heading over to Melb mid-season this year before we all head down to Hobart again in July.

Those games I mentioned are with the girls.
The North/Hawks game I’ll be flying solo ;)

Watching the 1990 VFL GF. Not as good as the 89 game by any means but still a hard game. Blokes like Tony Shaw wouldn't even get a gig these days, let alone win a Norm Smith. More's the shame.

Uber only costing $55 from Gepps Cross to Flaggy on Sat night, had budgeted $80+ and was sure a taxi would have cost that
