Starc's bowling at the moment is like putting the fastest car in the field at Bathurst in the hands of a blind pisspot, useless if you're going to crash it into a wall.

What's most concerning is he doesn't look like he knows the answer.

Some bowlers lose their way but drop back a gear or two, go back to their stock ball and hit a length for a few overs to get some rhythm and accuracy back. He's just belting in and letting them fly thinking that will work, he doesn't have a stock ball to go to.

Not a good look for our front line bowler or bowling coaches. Against the Lankan's he could have been sent out to bowl 3 or 4 overs like he was at centre wicket practice, just trundle them down at 135km/h and get them on the spot.

Might not be enough runs for Shaun to get back but surely Mitchell will be a late inclusion for the out of form Khawaja in Friday's Test.

In the last Ashes Test last summer both Marsh boys and Uzzie made tons. Now only Uzzie remains and he is struggling as much as Starc with the ball. Yet his (lack of) form seems to be getting under the radar.

Not that I want to downplay Khawaja's worrying lack of form this summer, but the reason why he isn't being talked about in the same way as the Marshes is because he has a reasonable test record over the course of his career, and this summer is perhaps being seen as a blip. The century he scored against Pakistan is also our most recent.

Of course, he would want to drastically turn around his form leading into the Ashes/WC.

I'm not sure if England still play Moeen Ali, but if they do, Khawaja at least doesn't have much to worry about in terms of spin which is his weakness.

Just because to me if you have DRS it should either be out or not out - umpires call is too much grey. Take the Head dismissal, had it been given not out then he gets the benefit of the doubt and is not out despite the ball hitting the stumps - either way it's a shit feeling for one of the sides.

With the BBL season continually extended to make more money, what are the chances CA eventually go down a path like AFL and turn an entire summer of cricket into a franchise based national competition?
