Wasn't he insurance for Starc who was under an injury cloud?
Sort of, also wanted the extra seem bowler option if the pitch would be flat.

I'm very happy they're going with an unchanged team. Common sense prevails. I was thinking the only guys they could possibly dropped for Stoinis to come in would of been Khawaja or Burns.

Coz Burns isn’t gonna cut it in England with the moving ball.
He nicks the straight ones here.

Yeah, let’s give another ordinary WA allrounder a go. Cartwright, Marsh, Agar or better still what is Jo Angel up to these days

Couldn't agree more as far as Cartwright and Agar are concerned, Agar got a gig because Boof wanted to make a statement upon getting the role, Cartwheel was the third best of an ordinary bunch.

I rate Stoinis far higher than any of the 3 you mentioned though, so why not hand out our 16th cap in the past 3 years? We won after all so we may aswell go change the side around.

On a side note, Starc will get a 5fa.

Neither Marcus Stoinis or Will Pucovski will be given the chance to prove themselves at Test level ahead of the Ashes, after both were overlooked for Australia’s final five-day assignment before the series in August.

Australia captain Tim Paine on Thursday announced an unchanged team to face Sri Lanka at Canberra’s Manuka Oval in the series-decider, starting Friday.

That means Stoinis and Pucovski will end the international summer of cricket without baggy greens, and with a massive dent in their Ashes aspirations.

Honestly, why the hype, why take him away from his BBL duties, he was never gonna play.

OK, just seen that he got rushed off the morning after he hit some runs, wasn't sure if he stays with the Aussie team for the whole 3 and a half days play of the test.
