If you continue straight up from Magill Rd that is the old one and you wont find many cyclists on that one if any. The new Norton Summit Rd is a left turn off Magill Rd.

Are women just nicer than blokes or do they say things with a hint of sarcasm intended?

A chick comes into work after getting a hair cut and no shit, it looks like she's wearing a helmet, a few other women all start oohing and aahing saying how lovely it looks while me and this younger lass are pulling faces to each other and sending winpops taking the piss.

Are they actually serious? If I have nothing nice to say, I try my best to say nothing.

Yeah that's the way I go, it's the Norton Summit to Loberthal road that's the main joy ride, you do see them pouring out of the Norton Summit Rd at the top.

Where do you draw the line with kids and their sports? During the summer my lad played PDCA cricket, under 14 red SACA on Saturday's, Ray Sutton Shield on Sundays up until just before Christmas then SAMCA Cup in the New Year as well as all the trainings.
He also does Boxing and plays volleyball (fortunately that's been in recess during the holidays).

His footy has started up and he wants to play for his Under 14 SANJFL team from last season, the Barossa League Under 15's and he's been invited out for the Central District development squad.

I've had to put my foot down and tell him that he can't do it all, volleyball has to go first and then it's only one lot of football plus the development squad, he misses too many trainings as it is as everything clashes during the week and I think it forces him to lack commitment, plus I don't want to burn him out and him not do anything in a few years, I hate saying no to something active.

Anyone else in a similar circumstance?

I agree with what you have done, kids also forget the commitment parents have to make in all this too

What a load for the young lad!

My pop used to pick me up and take me to footy games as a kid, last game of the season I slept over a friends house night before and didn't play last game - team lost by a couple points and missed B&F by a few votes (wouldn't have won it anyway lol).

Anyway my pop was waiting at home when i got there, had come to pick me up.. gave me a stern word along the lines of "If you decide to do something, then you need to give it 100% commitment, see it through and not be half arsed".

Sort of stuck with me forever, and although I have a fair heavy load with sport commitments, i've always ensured they dont clash or impact each other.. guess thats what Darcy has to work out now - what's important to him in terms of priorities and give that his dedication and lay back on the excess.

There would be nothing worse than him going hard now and by the time he gets to 17/18 he's burnt out, tired, over it all and then lost to sport.

I'd be more concerned with physical burn out and injuries. That is a lot of activity even for a teenager developing.

He gets good grades, but his homework workload is going to increase as he gets older, he pretty much has a job waiting for him once he turns 18 but he doesn't know that.

Yeah, the missus often gets on my case with the running about, she's not into cricket and thinks it's crazy how much he does.
