Dunno what week PDCA, ATCA etc finish but having a Grade Cricket club as a co-tenant means we don't get our oval back until April. We train on it properly for the first time in the week of Round 1.

Most Summer/winter tennant agreements are 1st October/1st April no matter if it is Grade Cricket or not.

Common sense should prevail and once either tennant is done for the season commence a partial handover.

Cricket associations (apart from Grade) should look to shorten the season IMO - it's already a long season as it is, and for those who are involved in cricket and a winter sport, there is pretty much zero break between.

I'm sure football and cricket would see improvements in retention rates if people got some break.

Amateur Football clubs can also stop pre-season training in December with that logic.

Way back in time it was common for the Cricket Season to run in to mid April and Football to start in May! Some country leagues still don't start round 1 until Anzac Day....

Cricket has always started after the October long weekend as far as I know. Does that mean its footy starting earlier? Although our Grand Final in Suburban is March 31. We play everyone twice, that never use to happen when i was playing turf.
