The NRL boys didn’t like Watts stealing their thunder!
Apparently some footage of Mitchell Pearce snorting coke off Dylan Napa’s pole has emerged [emoji15]

Been a few days since I watched the video, but didn't he turn to the camera and say 'are we ready?' before he snorted?
How can he claim it was recorded without consent?

Port Adelaide midfielder Ollie Wines hopes to be ready for AFL action in mid-April, but the injured star says he is already prepared to be the Power’s new skipper.

Wines, recovering from right-shoulder surgery from a water-skiing accident, so far has written off the Power’s opening two games against Melbourne (March 23) and Carlton (March 30) to be in line for AFL selection against Brisbane (April 6).

But the bullish midfielder is staggered his off-field setback should be taken into account as the Port Adelaide board this week decides between Wines, 24, and defender Tom Jonas as Travis Boak’s successor as Power captain.

“I don’t think (the water skiing moment on Australia Day) has any reflection on captaincy at all,” Wines said in his first public statement since the January 26 incident. “I would not have thought (the injury) would have any influence on being captain or not.”

Wines, long tagged as the “captain in waiting”, does want the captaincy that could be decided at Alberton by Friday.

“It would be a great honour to captain this club - and I would love to do it,” Wines said.

“I am one of many candidates ... do I think I am ready? I do think I am ready to captain this club. But I am not the one who has that say.”

Wines is keeping the final say on his activities away from football declaring he will not give up water skiing, a past time he has enjoyed since he was a three-year-old growing up on the Murray.

However, Wines accepts he needs to scale back his holiday time on the water by packing away the skis by Christmas to avoid a repeat of this summer’s setback that will deny him any part in the Power’s pre-season campaign and the start of the premiership season.

“I understand there is some risk involved (with these water sports),” Wines said. “I do my best to decrease the risk as much as I can. I am very conservative out there and don’t push myself.

“I understand I am a full-time athlete. This is my job and any injury I sustain outside football jeopardises my career.

“But this is one thing that was a freak accident - the rope pulled my arm and, unfortunately, pulled my shoulder out.

“I probably have to look at the times I’m doing these things. Perhaps this close to the start of the season, only eight weeks out, is maybe an unnecessary time to be doing it.”

Wines is optimistic of the sound fitness base he has developed in the summer helping his return to AFL action by mid-April rather than May.

“It (the return game) is up in the air ... you can aim for a really aggressive recovery and perhaps come back earlier or you can be pretty conservative,” Wines said.

“We’re aiming to be back in the first month of the season, as soon as possible.

“Generally, the surgeon puts it at a 10-12 week recovery. Hopefully, earlier rather than later.

“If I am to miss a couple of games (against Melbourne and Carlton) to be able to play the whole season and finals, we’ll do that.”

Second quarter of a grand final when you are not getting a kick and you're three goals down and part of a non-functioning forward line. That will do nicely thanks Pods here's your medal.

Brownlow Medallist Gavin Wanganeen creates more history at Port Adelaide as a club director

Brownlow Medallist and inaugural Port Adelaide captain Gavin Wanganeen is the first AFL indigenous player to win a place on an AFL club board.

Wanganeen has won the members’ vote at Port Adelaide and will replace Magpies SANFL premiership team-mate George Fiacchi on the new-look Power board.

The Essendon and Power AFL premiership hero becomes the fourth indigenous person to claim a board seat in the 18-team national football competition.

Wanganeen’s appointment - that has been eagerly endorsed by the AFL that is still aiming to put an indigenous player on its commission - will be confirmed at Alberton on Friday afternoon before the Port Adelaide Football Club annual meeting later in the evening.

Wanganeen, 45, returns to Alberton in a senior role for the first time since he retired as a player during the 2006 football season.

An Australian Football Hall of Famer, Wanganeen played 300 AFL games - 127 with Essendon from 1991 after leaving the Magpies and 173 with Port Adelaide on his return as the Power’s first captain in 1997.

Fiacchi, a seven-premiership hero at Alberton, leaves the Power board after two stints as a director. The second was the most significant with his successful agenda to reunite the football club as “One Port Adelaide” with the Power in the AFL and Magpies in the SANFL.

Port Adelaide’s members will have financials presented at the annual meeting with the Power again posting a profit.

More significant will be a commitment from club president David Koch to reduce the club’s high tally of debt by $1 million in 2019.
PAFC. Forever.
