I reckon Tex and Rory would have similar IQ’s wouldn’t they?

About as good as it got that day for Atkins too, kept Richmond in it in that first quarter when the Crows were looking okay.

If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Ok.
With Jonas now captain does this mean he can’t belt people off the ball or after they have got rid of it.
Not a good look for a captain.

Wines was always going to be captain whilst Boak was still playing to help him out.
By making Jonas captain as well does one assume Boak isnt in their plans this year to play all 22 games?

Barring injury/suspension - I have little doubt concerning Boak's spot in the 22. Ranked one of the best general forwards last year, statistically, averaging 22 touches and just under a goal a game. Will probably see more midfield time this season, too.

Why have 2 captains then if you still have Boak there?
I would have thought Boak mentoring Wines makes more sense.
Hard to mentor with 2 captains and an ex captain all in the one side.

Marc Murphy will still be a prominent figure in Carlton's best 22, despite handing over the reigns. Boak had 6 years at the helm, perhaps he felt it was time to hand over for the benefit of the side? Perhaps he felt relinquishing the captaincy would allow him to refresh mentally and focus on performing his role?

Boak would have been mentoring Wines over the past couple of years when Wines was VC.

Yeah I agree with that.
So why have Jonas as joint captain?
Ollie as the only captain makes more sense to me.

Could be a number of factors.

Say what you like about Jonas and his recent indiscretions on field (namely the Gaff incident - which he was remorseful for and has learned from), but up until he got injured last year, the bloke was in serious conversation for AA selection. He has been solid as a rock for us for 2 seasons now, and would be a driver of the standards that are expected on the track and on game day. The group obviously see his output worthy of leadership recognition.

The club have told us that they sought feedback from Boak and Rockliff, who are the only squad members to have captained a side at AFL level, and both of them mentioned that a co-captain would have been hugely beneficial.

Call it spin, call it fact. What I do know is that the leadership model at the PAFC has become stale and it needed a change up. I'm happy for the club to be trying something new, and couldn't care less if it is 1 captain or 10, so long as the playing group buys in and believes it to be the best model available to give them maximum opportunity for us to progress as a football club.

Play finals and it’ll be seen as successful, miss out and it might be reviewed.

Reviewed by the new coach I’d say.
Surely Ken’s on borrowed time if you miss the finals again.

If we miss the 8, the co-captaincy leadership model will not be the sole reason for that.

As for Ken - we can't afford to sack him. Whilst he is contracted to the end of 2021, we wouldn't be in a financial position to remove him for at least another 2 years, so he is here until the end of season 2020 at least.

And say we miss the 8, how can a co-captaincy leadership model be directly attributed to that? Rubbish.

I know the landscape of football and it’s leaders has changed but captains of old use to take responsibility for its teams failures.

Also you can’t afford to move Ken on but another wasted season means you can’t afford too keep him either.

Silly move by the club to extend his contract long term.
If he had a better offer and wanted to walk they should of let him.

And for all we know, Travis has taken responsibility and has stepped aside - but changing a leadership model again after 12 months because we miss the 8 is a long bow to draw.

The old rock and a hard place. Koch blinked and we are paying for it. Big time.

Travis Boak is a great player and captain and even better person.
I have no doubt he has put the side before himself.
His loyalty as well is something I really like.

As for Ken I’ve never really been a fan ;)

Port fans who are maintaining the faith are slim pickings.
