Yes, the big thing and main thing for us is the travel time, like you said would be significantly less.

As for guys returning from the Pirates to NH, that is a joke within itself, we'll see what happens.

There's 8 players that have representated the Pirates by my count that played at NH recently or in the past, 4/5 who have played A and B grade at some point and 3 of those played for us last season in the A's and B's . 2 of those played A grade, 1 of those is the founder of the Pirates and the other would be welcomed back to NH in a heartbeat I reckon as he has done so much for the club in the past as a former committee member. The third who has an interesting story behind him only played B grade at his request wanting to take the easy option and wanting it all his on way and our club is better off without him, he will never be welcomed back to North Haven as far as I'm concerned.

The other 2 out of those 8 players who played last season played in our lower grades and were magically cleared from NH to the Pirates before the start of this season despite being unfinacial as far as we were aware.

Well North Haven potentially coming in would allow Riverside to drop out of the two day stuff (G2 and G4) and put sides in the LO comps - might help keep their club alive.

Grade 1 was the problem Bedge, the majority of the club wanted to see if they could go down after losing a few of the top half a dozen run-scorers from the previous season, the talent pool was too thin from the bottom half of their ones and the top half of their twos to remain competitive in Grade 1.

They will survive, they will have two sides next season, especially being appropriately placed.

North Haven is that much of a travel for most teams, I don't think the Pirates were awarded any wins from teams not willing to travel there and that's an extra 15 minutes drive for us northern folk.

No, he is the Pirates club co-founder, president and captain.

I was talking about Lennard.

GRADE 1
EP 126.70
SW 125.84
AV 110.73
CR 108.59

Vir 101.45

Craigmore vs Riverside: Not much to salvage here, the Blues should go to 3rd but losing to Virginia last week cost them a home final.
Gardens vs Virginia: The Gardens' generous declaration against the Vale severely retarded the Virginian finals campaign, they would've been hoping for a similar result which will be virtually impossible in one day, Virginia are on the arse end of the deal in Grade 1.
Parkers vs Vale: Angle Vale were gifted an outright and then picked one up with intelligent cricket against a Crosbie-less Dublin, a big test of where they're at, definitely the winners out of the heat week.
Dublin vs Westies: Seemingly a dead rubber, a win will see Dublin avoid relegation although I don't think they'd be too fazed, they've done alright with the squad that they have and would be better suited to Grade 2, Westies could've seen it as a possible outright and claimed top spot, the week off makes it harder but I still think they will make up the 0.87 points to take the minor premiership.

GRADE 2
NP 125.37
NEK 121.84
CU 97.83
EU 95.61

CR 84.43

Pines vs Enfield: Enfield may have scabbed in here as Craigmore needed an outright against ATCO to make the finals.
ATCO vs Blues: ATCO's form came to a screaming halt, a depleted Craigmore ruined their aspirations on the weekend, the heat week will totally destroy it. They have done extremely well in Grade 2 though, a lack of commitment and availability from their A's has hurt them at costly times.
Units vs Smitty: Neither here nor there, Units to continue on their merry way, they were going to finish 3rd regardless.
NEK vs Royals: I think the Royals will be pretty happy to see the season end, back to the drawing board for next season and hopefully a few old faces can return.

I hate losing, but I must say the win Saturday was bittersweet for me.. I was actually looking forward to not playing finals!

Also dont write us off against NP in a one day match, both sides have IMO the best depth of bowling, and depending on what happens with Freeman if he plays or not could well tip the scales slightly.

Yes, Freeman is a big sway factor here.

IMO he plays, the SACA wont be able to act so swiftly and I think it will end more of him being better educated.

GRADE 3
AV 126.26
OTH 112.25
SW 106.53
PP 92.98

PG 83.99
EU 81.35

Westies vs Goats: A classic 2nd vs 3rd fighting for a home final, the shorter game will suit Westies and they'll be as chirpy as ever, expect a big name in the team.
Vale vs Gardens: Vale too good, minor premiers.
Enfield vs Dublin: Losing to ATCO knocked the stuffing out of the Earwigs, an outright this game could've saved them if the Huts can knock off the Pirates, no chance if this week is cancelled.
Pirates vs ATCO: Pirates are pretty much locked in for finals if this week is cancelled.

GRADE 4
ER 128.16
NP 124.32
SW 101.85
NEK 95.06

EU 92.56

Westies vs Pines: The Pines haven't lost since round 2 and I can't see that changing this round.
ATCO vs Enfield: Enfield to win by forfeit, the average winning points on a two dayer would've seen them leapfrog NEK, wont be happening with only one day's play. Cricket is a cruel game as they wouldn't have played for 4 weeks and didn't get to play the two lowest sides in two-dayers.
Riverside vs Royals: Being at home and a one dayer next week should see Riverside fill a side.
Craigmore vs NEK: The Blues have been decimated in the higher grades recently and the C's have suffered badly over it, too much at stake here for NEK who will get thrown a lifeline with the heat week.

UNDER 16's
NP 65.81 (7) 9.401
SW 62.21 (6) 10.368
CR 42.67 (6) 7.112
DUB 30.87 (7) 4.410

ER 19.85 (6) 3.308

*Bracketed number in how many games they have played, the other number is average points per game, there will be point adjustments so it looks as though everyone had played 8 matches.

Westies vs Dublin: One of the big two against a club that can hold their head high, Dublin have a couple of handy kids coming through and should play finals.
Royals vs Craigmore: The Blues should take the cookies here but the Royals have a couple of game change players that could ruin the party, a win will probably see the Royals slip into the 4.

I've seen the top two teams at various times throughout the year and it's a pretty good standard of kids cricket.

CR (W) 38.60 (5.514)
NP 36.94 (5.277)
SN 33.29 (4.756)

Being a one dayer this has totally changed the dynamics of a final outcome, North Pines will get their average points (5.277) to take them to 42.22.

Salisbury North vs Craigmore Blue: Salisbury North are better than bottom but that wont help this round.
Angle Vale vs Salisbury West: Westies should win, Angle Vale will need to score more than 2.63 points to finish higher than North Pines.
Two Wells vs Craigmore White: I think Craigmore will be a bit more suited to the shorter game and should take the points and finish 3rd. Two Wells will need to score more than 2.28 points to finish higher than North Pines.

The heat has livened this grade up big time, 2.28 seems bugger all but it's a win in a 22 over match, 128 runs and 5 wickets.

Should take a moment to highlight the North Pines revival of recent seasons.. on the verge of heading back to Grade 1, club looks strong:

A Grade - Top Grade 2
B Grade - 2nd Grade 4
C Grade - Top Grade 6
D Grade - 3rd Grade 7
E Grade - 2nd Grade 8
Womens A Grade - 4th
Womens B Grade - 3rd
U16 - Top
U14 - 6th but could play finals still
U12 - 3rd out of 12
U10 - Top and 3rd
