Funny how when Trent Kelly prepared the wicket at Henley it was always full of bounce and movement, now getting close to Woodville Oval standard!!

Here's a comparison just of the top five batsmen and bowlers a decade apart. Has changed significantly. Somewhere halfway between the two would seem about right

2018-19 Bowling
Oakley 32 wickets at 15.9
Benton 25 wickets at 19.7
B Pengelley 23 wickets at 20.4
Fatchen 22 wickets at 22.4
Cunningham 21 wickets at 22.4

2008-09 Bowling
Sayers 58 wickets at 12.6
Frick 43 wickets at 16.7
Marks 35 wickets at 15.9
Donnelly 35 wickets at 16.1
Tietjens 33 wickets at 12.6

2018-19 Batting
Winter 951 runs at 105.6
Smith 893 runs at 127.5
Brown 703 runs at 70.3
Davis 614 runs at 76.7
Sayers 604 runs at 59.4

2008-09 Batting
J Borgas 518 runs at 39.8
Stolcman 513 runs at 46.6
Williams 508 runs at 46.1
Cosgrove 497 at 45.1
Weeks 493 runs at 61.6

Has the change of concept made a difference, weren't batting for draws 10 years ago, Redbacks bowlers were allowed to bowl in Grade cricket and the standard/depth of grade cricket has dropped significantly.

Why are you blokes whingeing about what type of ball used? Fairly certain they use the same ball in NSW First Grade as here. Yes the NSW Grade clubs had a cry about it too at the time but their shield team batting line up isn't made of glass either!

Not whinging, just suprised. Would've thought part of the premier cricket role would be to best prepare players for the next step up, and part of that being providing somewhat similar conditions to that being experienced at FC level?

The ball is fine if there's some grass/moisture left in the pitch

Glenelg win they're in. Lose and Sturt or Uni will kick them out.

The winner of Sturt v Uni needs one of Adelaide/Glenelg to lose

If he gets into the Mavericks, from memory wipe out your weekends of 30 March and 6 April, games played on both Sat & Sun of those weekends :)

Can wipe them out as of next weekend with finals, he's in hospital at the moment so will miss this weeks trial at least.

Amanda Wellington played B's for Port on Saturday, picked up a couple of wickets, a bowled and a caught and bowled, will be interesting to see how she goes with the stick, I remember as a 13/14 year old kid she was playing mens PDCA and handled the pace well.
