Wouldn't say "joy", we cop them every bloody season, we need back up.

I'd sooner have Morkel in there over Mennie nowadays, Winter and Worrall have years on their side and can take us further, Sayers needs to overcome the niggles and get back to the player that had him as the best medium pacer in the country.

It's all hypothetical anyway, Morkel lives in NSW and will continue to.

If you live in Sydney while the hell would you come here to play for us?

Cooper & Jo Mennie are both from NSW.
Winter also but he might have been from Canberra if my memory serves me correct.
Phil Hughes also.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

We’ve had players come for better opportunities that struggled to get games with their home state but we have struggled to entice star players.
The late Phil Hughes is probably the last star player to come here.

Players would come here for opportunity. They know they’ll play as We are by far the worst team in the country with the worst state structure. Idiots carry on about NSW players playing for Australia, it ain’t by fluke, Cricket NSW is second to none in terms of state structure. They are literally a production line of quality players

And to back this up ‘I’m pretty sure’ NSW just won the 15’s and 17’s national champs?

I seriously can not remember one redback than actually puts a value on his wicket nor one who could bat time.

Batting time I mean if we’re in trouble try and scrap through a session even if it’s only for 40-50 runs bat ugly just dig in but no the jelly’s will try and bash themselves out of trouble and lose 6/15.

Pretty sure they won the 19s this season (ACT/NSW Country) and the 17s and 19s last season as well.

I'm not defending the SACA's but a little bit of perspective Army. Only 10 match seasons with draws quite common particularly the further you go back. And wins wouldn't include games where we took first innings points in a draw in the days when that system was in place. I reckon Carlton and Freo would trump these numbers relative to the number of games in an AFL season and that's just comparing with one other sport.

...Edited to include draws (for simplicity, count as half a win, ignoring first innings points):

Armchair expert wrote:Redbacks wins/draws

2016-17 5W 0D => 50%
2015-16 5W 0D => 50%
2014-15 2W 2D => 30%
2013-14 3W 5D => 55%
2012-13 4W 1D => 45%
2011-12 0W 4D => 20%
2010-11 1W 1D => 15%
2009-10 2W 3D => 35%
2008-09 4W 3D => 55%

1998-99 2W 5D => 45%
1997-98 1W 5D => 35%
1996-97 2W 1D => 25%
1995-96 5W 2D => 60% WINNERS

So in the past 23 seasons since winning the Shield (including the current season), there have been 3 seasons with a greater than 50% record.

When comparing Win/Loss ratios in AFL/SANFL for example, normally a greater than 50% record will get you into finals (although there are obviously exceptions year-by-year), so their performance is roughly equivalent to a football team making the finals 3 times in 23 years (or if you include exactly 50% as enough, then 5 times in 23 years).

An alternative comparison is considering when they have finished in the top half (3) of the competition, which has also only occurred 5 out of the last 23 seasons.

And comparing the finals and win/loss ratios of some of the poorer performing AFL clubs over a long period of time:
Fremantle - made finals 7 times in last 24 seasons (> 50% in those 7 seasons, exactly 50% in 2 other seasons where they didn't make finals)
Carlton - made finals 4 times in last 17 seasons (> 50% in 2 seasons, exactly 50% in 3 other seasons)
Richmond (prior to 2013) - made finals 2 times in 30 seasons (> 50% in 5 seasons, exactly 50% in 3 other seasons)
