Now we are done for the season (and thank f**king god we are done, very though season) we now look to moving associations I like the look of this alot Bedgie, would be nice if we can alot into Grade 2, ideally that's what we would like to be but I understand if the PDCA don't want us put straight into Grade 2. I think much of our decision of coming across would be based around which Grades the association would be looking to put our four (hopefully) grades into. What you have there is pretty much what I would go for, the D grade in a one day comp would be much appreciated although might be a bit of a bug bear in terms of team selection and the obvious, blokes sandbagging and only wanting to play one day cricket.

Going off topic slighty- Personally I would only have us playing one day cricket, personally I think one day community cricket would be easier for everyone, one day games make selections much, much easier and from my experience having a bat and a bowl in the same day and getting a result every week makes cricket much more enjoyable. I know many of the guys I play with feel the same although I think that we are in the minority and the associations aren't going to change the structure of the type of cricket we play overnight.

Not being spiteful, I genuinely want to know- If someone can tell me exactly why the majority of community cricket is 2 day cricket please tell me.

The ASCA's fixture was a huge positive, 8 team comp playing every team twice in a one day and two day match, one at home/ one away was fantastic and having test match weekend and Australia say weekend off this season was great too. We were spoilt with that I reckon so it will be interesting to see how the PDCA structure the fixture for 19/20. The fixture you posted above looks good, after getting it this season we simply must have test match weekend and Aus day weekend off IMO.

I was having a chat with one of my team mates tonight about the move- he asked how many umpire do the PDCA have and what grade do their filter down to? Do G1, G2 and G3 get umpires each week?

Genuine question, why is North Haven looking to move comps.

I apologise if this has already been explained?

Exploring the option of a fresh start after a tough season and most of us are tired of the consistent travel down south, we feel the PDCA might be more accessible.

They struggled fielding a one day side this season, they wont play in the two day comp for a couple of seasons.

I understand your sentiments but do you think the Units will want to go up? What has changed? They have over-achieved this season, they'll get no players returning, it a tough one as the step from Grade 2 to Grade 1 is as big as it's ever been, you basically need a two year plan to move up and be competitive, or a big Eastern Park-like coup and that's only gonna happen if someone wins the lotto, you don't pick up a Benny and chuck in a Woody very often in the one hit.

Well having to drive through the mid western and then mostly south western and southern metropolitan suburbs using only 60km roads to and from opposition grounds you start to think would the PDCA be more accessible to our club using the freeways/expressways that connect our Peninsula to the Northern Suburbs?

Edit-
It can be an absolute shit fight at times mate and it really puts blokes off playing cricket.

I did a Google Map for you-
Largs North Reserve to Virginia- 28 mins/29kms
LNR- Dublin 48mins/61kms

Largs North Reserve to Hewett Oval (Coromandel's home ground) 57 min 31kms
LNR to Gums oval Belair National Park home of Belair CC- 54 min/30kms

Sorry, I should've added a smiley face.

I can see every reason why you guys would want to change, driving anywhere south of the Port is a pain in the arse, the only reprieval is the little bit of Tapleys behind the airport.

Dunno, thought i saw something mentioned the other week about possible bridges joining Outer Harbour to Boliver or something? Dont know if it's on the cards, but it would halve the travel time.

Maybe it was two bridges then and a road through TI?

GRADE 1 GF's
17/18 @ Virginia: Virginia 136 def. Salisbury West 112
16/17 @ Sal. West: Virginia 220 def. Salisbury West 99
15/16 @ Sal. West: Salisbury West 171 def. Virginia 127
14/15 @ Sal. West: Angle Vale 118 def. Salisbury West 96
13/14 @ Virginia: Virginia 105 def. Salisbury West 91
12/13 @ McGlip Oval: One Tree Hill 92 def by Rose & Crown 4/96
11/12 @ Sal. West: Salisbury West 9/203 def Rose & Crown 121
10/11 @ Ridley Reserve: Brahma Lodge 9/198 def. Rose & Crown 124
09/10 @ Sal. West: Salisbury West 148 def. Rose & Crown 0/1 (abandoned)
08/09 @ Sal. West: Salisbury West 9/281 def. Virginia 190

Only once a team has won the GF batting 2nd, Rose & Crown back in 12/13.

H2H
Since Angle Vale were promoted back into Grade 1 after the finished season 13/14 as minor premiers but failed to chase down Parafield Gardens' 92 in the GF, Westies and the Vale have met 11 times, with 2 "no results" and Westies have been victorious 8 times compared to the Vale's 1 win, that was in the 14/15 GF at Salisbury West.

Players to watch
Travis McIntyre has a great record against the Vale, he's collect 4 wickets on three occasions along with a couple of half centuries, including a match -winning 84 in round 3 this season.
Justin Carman has taken a 7/49, 6/45 and a 4fa against Westies.
Justin Davies has picked up similar figures with a 7/32, 6/74 and a 5/52.
Angle Vale's Ash Fry is a surprise packet against Westies with a 71, 64 and 41 in recent times.
Willi Sewell pops up when it counts, he's managed a half ton and a 6/65 against the Vale.
Anthony Lewendon has knocks of 71 not out and 62 for Westies, David Ward has a 51 not out to his name too and for the Vale, Az Meredith has scored an 89 while all-rounder Mark Townley has reached 50 against the foe.

All in all, there are plenty of potential match winners and the toss appears vital, especially seeing there could be a bit of rain around Sunday but runs on the board are always harder to chase.

I've got my lad's GF there on Saturday and Sunday, that's after his GF in the morning both days at Argana Park, fun times.

Bedgegood played at R&C from 09/10, last season in 12/13.. 4x straight GF's.. coincidence?

Side note..

Returned to Enfield in 13/14 as a coach following 4 consecutive wooden spoons (same period i was at R&C), and since played in 3x GFs and 3x SFs.

Therefore, it's fair to deduct.. I AM #TheDifference 8)
