Reynella got to A1 from hardwicket and our player and coach payments equalled zero.

It can be done without forking out coin....its just a bit harder!

Good luck to clubs that can afford to do it but we'd rather spend that money on infrastructure, coaching aids etc.

And hats off to Hoppy and Semps who I have the utmost respect for both as a cricketers and blokes over many years, but it does not change the fact that what you think was paid compared to what was actually paid do not compare.

4 figure amounts per game mentioned by someone is utter crap!!

Just harder to maintain the A1 status being middle of the road every year.

I do know there is another club similar to Reynella not known for paying players are wrestling with this argument. If you are going to do it be smart about it and definitely don't make it unsustainable. Target people to get them there then back your culture to keep them there when you wean them off the payments.

I didn't have any figure in mind.
Its just the fact we all know blokes with that experience (young, and harrity etc.) don't come cheap.
If Youngy played for nothing its a great get!

Definitely harder for sure.
I am a tad envious of clubs with the money to be able to do it. Lol.

I don't believe Ingle Farm paid anyone when I was there back in 08/09. Clubs need to spend money to be competitive in A1's

Don't need to when you're a school with a massive Cricket program. Makes life easy.

Are you suggesting the school has any involvement or funding associated with the cricket club? Also not all players went to the school.

Alright, just curious. Okay for him to have a dig though? Stereotyping works both ways.

Kids who went to PAC had affluent parents?

Wouldn't have thought that was sterotyping, would think that's pretty accurate. ;)

Interesting comment. Single parent on a teachers wage with no child support is affluent? Not to mention scholarships.

Not really important though. Should be some great games this week. Four very good sides fighting it out to play in a GF. Think PAOC and Pooraka will play the GF but would not be surprised if Para Hills or Ingle Farm get through.

Safe to say some clubs pay heaps, some pay a bit and others pay bugger all.

As we've seen with Harinderjit Singh, got offered $$$ to move to Ingle Farm, played the first 3 rounds, hated their lack of culture, so moved back to Para Hills.

Sometimes playing with teammates you like is worth more than a few dollars being slipped in the bottom of your cricket bag.

  More to do with his lack of output, lack of opportunities, that he brought his mates who weren't (at that time) in the best XI, and that we wasn't the most loved person at the club.

Good mate of mine who went to grange from the farmers in late 90s couldn't believe the talk in later years on how much grange spent. Said figures stated were way off the mark.
Doesn't really matter what teams pay, if you have a feasible working budget and run to that what does it matter, good on them for raising that extra cash. I know ingle farm raise approx 6K in one show before season starts and another 2 or 3k in early November
