The only chance is downgrading it and getting a fine but the charge will stand.

There was no force at all, I was expecting to see blood gushing from the abdomen while he was laying there by the way he went down.

And there we go, AFL 360 (my fave show and fave presenters btw) have pretty much lead with it. They should feel some level of guilt for it because they spent all last year campaigning for less congestion (to give us more of the uncontested chippy chip crap) and zero tolerance punching or off the ball contact. The AFL In their usual way have gone too far with it, but that surely wouldn’t surprise anyone.

Looked terrible, cant have been for the slight bump. Thought it must have been for starting ruck contest too close, the ruckmen supposed to be one metre apart before ball thrown in. Don't see it paid too often.

Umpires had ordinary start to year, blame rests with Steve Hocking and umpires coaches for their directions to them though.

I didn't watch a lot of footy over the weekend but take it there were plenty of errors, is it the umpires or the rules?

They'd be bloody hard to interpret, I like the old school ones where you protect the player going for the ball.

The endless stream of directives from AFL house would be impossible to take in. There's the rules of Australian Football that must be implemented first and foremost and then on top of that the powers that be add further directions almost endlessly.

The Sicily free kick on the weekend was a disgrace, the one that Schache got right in front of goal, in the first instance and then it was exasperated by the AFL coming out backing the decision as correct yesterday.

I'm lost, more so than ever before.

These days is it really a long way back from 0-2?

Also i was thinking - why do they get 4 points for a win, why not just have 2? Is there actually any reason for it?

It's a Victorian thing, 4 is more than 2, the SANFL was only two points, they had to be better, same as the way percentage is worked out.

Theoretically you can't have more than 100%, they've found a way to though, the SANFL is better formula, the VFL formula wont give you a reading if you keep the opposition scoreless in round 1, the SANFL formula will give you 100%.

Only 4 times have a VFL/AFL premiership side won after being 0-2, North in 1975 and 1999, Bulldogs in 1954 and Carlton in 1945, you'd have to suggest given none of them were in an 18 team 23 round competition it doesn't really mean much.

More relevant is that since 2010 49 sides have started the season 0-2, only three have gone on to play finals. Collingwood in 2018, Sydney in both 2014 and 2017. In that respect history suggests making finals in the modern era once you're 0-2 is less likely than it is likely.

Currently 0-2 :

Sydney, Carlton, North, Essendon and Melbourne.

We'll see in about 6 months, I guess.

It should still even out a lot, with Melbourne, Essendon, North, Carlton and Sydney (or at least a couple of them) putting some wins together at some stage. Conversely you'd expect Saints, GC, Brisbane maybe even the Dogs to slow down on the W's somewhere along the way (to varying degrees).

0-2 in isolation doesn't need to be a scary place, but when combined with form and the potential for a poor start getting worse, you'd be bricking it as a Sydney, North, Essendon or Melbourne fan.

Melbourne v Essendon on Friday night, one of them is 0-3 and probably season over.

North have the Hawks who will be smarting.

Sydney have Carlton at Marvel, they should win that.....

Round 4 - Sydney v Melbourne, North v Adelaide, Essendon v Brisbane.

Gets ugly for one or more there.

Of those 49 sides though, I wonder how many would've been tipped to play finals pre-season and how many were battling clubs like Gold Coast / GWS / Port Adelaide / Brisbane.
