You can see why they would've recruited him but you would've thought they'd get an equal, if not better return out of some of the kids they already had, like Ronke for example, get some games into him.

Terrible luck for Menz. Who knows how good he could have been if not for injury. Hope he can come back and play a few games for the Swannies this year.

Sinclair inks new deal

Sydney Swans ruckman Callum Sinclair has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension.

The 29-year-old, who joined Sydney from West Coast in the 2015 exchange period, will now be a Swan until at least the end of 2021.

Originally recruited as a rookie in 2012, Sinclair has played 59 games in red and white, for a career total of 88, and has kicked 54 goals.

He arguably had his best season last year when he played all 23 games, averaging 29 hit-outs and 15 disposals and being presented the Swans Most Improved award.

Sydney’s Head of Football Charlie Gardiner says it’s a great result to have secured Sinclair’s services.

“We’re really happy that Callum has committed to the club for another two years,” Gardiner said.

“Ever since coming to the Swans, Callum has been an outstanding clubman and an incredibly popular teammate.

“His football has been at a really high standard for a while now, particularly in the past 12 months when he shouldered the primary ruck role for the whole season.

“Cal's started season 2019 in a similar fashion and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop and contribute to the team.”

Doubtful, but I don’t really care. He’s my fave swan of all time, and probably the best one of all time. And would easily be in the discussion as one of the greats of the modern era
