Went with Gawn. Cost me 2 points, despite being on 81 at HT

Duursma, Butters, Gray, Grundy and Neale + 180 vs. Dunkley, Libba, Treloar, Mills and Coniglio.

Reckon you'll nab me, fish, unless my rooks have a blinder.

Reckon Grundy and Neale will score enough, plus the 180 pts should see you have enough coverage if the Port boys punch out mediocre scores

The conservative option would be for me to mirror this move but I think McRae will go huge against the Good Coast tomorrow.

Trading Heeney and Mills was a genius move. Gone from being in control to neck and neck tomorrow. Going to close Groover!

Treloar with a below par score, and monsters from Neale and Grundy should get me the win. Goldstein, Libba and Dunkley vs. 384.

Projected to score 2423. Unheard of for Round 3.

With the coin that these cows will be generating this year, a score of 2800+ later in the season will become very realistic.

Five Hogg Premier coaches cracked 2300 in the first round of the season as a few teams really got rolling at the commencement of the head to head matches. The important players this week included Lachie Whitfield, Tom Liberatore, Patrick Cripps and Lachie Neale who all posted over 150 points. Popular guns rucks also cashed in with decent tons and the Dangerman and Heeney also scored big.

On the other hand Nathan Fyfe owners were hurting as much as Nat himself as a nasty head clash knocked him (and the Honey Badgers) out of action for the round. Rocky also went down in a heap to once again burn anyone who had taken a punt on the Port mid and the return of an underdone Wines also impacted Drew's scoring and several other youngsters (especially up forward) took a bath in the scoring.

All of this meant that Benny Rolfs is on top of the ladder and that Hondo prepared a harsh welcome to Chicken Twisties. Has Been (not for the first time) and a back in town Delicious scored very well as did FISH who was unlucky to lose to valleys in a high scoring clash. The REBCats tried their best to lose their match against the Captain but McRae's second half saved the day for yours truly.

Mediocre at Best and Sharks managed to scramble to low scoring victories while Poon saluted the minute Fyfe went down on Sunday night. There were some cracking matches to open the season and this year every win will be celebrated. First thing up here is to save your arse...then think about finals.

Round 2 Preview

Even though the league slipped back in the rankings several sides in the Premier League have already emerged as this season's heavy hitters. I'm assuming here that the presence of Liberatore, Neale, Whitfield and Cripps, or at least the majority of those guys is the key for the teams who managed to crack 2300 last week.

By the looks of recent events most of this week's games appear to be a bit one sided. The promoted sides have copped a harsh early draw and last week's 2300 club all play teams that couldn't manage that last week. Has Been leads the scoring over three rounds and they play the bottom ranked scorer Captain Who so that on paper looks a simple tip. The match of the round is Hondo vs. Sharks but this is only based on ladder position at this stage with the Sharks expected to offer little resistance to the mighty Hondo.

The close one for me is the Inner Sanctum vs. Buddy Franklin game. I gave Buddy the nod but a real toss of the coin job that one. Not liking my chances against Benny Rolfs and I reckon hambone will get his rear end handed to him by FISH who will be keen to open their account. I reckon there might be a few percentage boosters this week with my mob most likely to be one the wrong end of it.

The top teams dominated in Round 2 of Premier League action with the league leaders Benny Rolfs unbothered by what was a feeble effort by the REBCats who were every inch the relegation fancy after a promising opening three weeks. I'm so salty if you gave me a packed of plain chips they would be salt and vinegar by the time I gave them back. Hondo also had an impressive victory as he flogged an out of sorts Sharks outfit that scored almost as badly as I did last week.

We are quite used to Has Been and a lesser extent Q being amongst the frontrunners but the return to the top flight of Poon is something of a surprise. My fixture is stuffed (but not as stuffed as the AFL) as I've got a data entry error in there somewhere but not so Poon who is reaping the benefits of a couple of Porties, namely Rocky and Boak. See this pisses me off as my season last year was brought crashing down my ears by the inclusion of Port duds and less than a year later they've led to the resurrection of my Qld rival. FFS stupid game.

There are a few teams in premier though who would take one poor week in four with a win in the bank. The Captain is off to a very slow start (a bit like last year IIRC) and newly promoted Twisties are struggling. Longwood Lions are struggling to keep up with the Joneses and Inner Sanctum and early season pointscoring pacesetter Richo is also not off the mark. At least the Lions are a chance this week as they have the REBCats LOL.

Benny Rolfs are still leading the way in the Premier League but the big shock so far this season has been the flying start of my fellow Ippy coach Poon Illwatereveratti. Hambone has rocked the Premier League with an unprecedented 3-0 start as the Poon have turned back the clock to bring out form that rivals their 2007 flag year. The latest victim for the Poon was Mediocre at Best who is one of many teams that are used to winning most weeks all of a sudden scratching around and wondering where their next four points might be coming from. Other sides in this boat are Captain Who and Inner Sanctum while Honey Badgers and Buddy Franklin are other top sides on the wrong side of the win loss ledger. At the foot of the ladder is the Longwood Lions and Alaska might have his work cut out staying up this season unless they can grab a win soon.

Delicious and FISH are two sides who appear to be on the way up and Eckys, REBCats and Sharks have also started well with my Cats paying the price for a shocker last week. Has Been, Q and Hondo all copped their first loss for the year but the news was better for Richo Richo and Chicken Twisties who gratefully wrapped up a win to avoid going 0-3. As a league we are struggling a bit at 992 so I think our best SuperCoaching is ahead of us but it's still a competitive league all the same.
