Just the 10 goal win.

So basically keeping the opponent to the lower score weighs more for you.

Thanks for the clarification, so no use playing for percentage when over 10 goals up.

No, give little Johnny who sits in the back pocket and rotates off the bench a quarter in the forward line.

I get your point, especially in a couple of years when the grading will be a lot truer in the older age groups.

What's the forum opinion on clubs that have more than 1 team in the same division?

Do you have one team full of the best players, and then one team with the left overs?

Glenunga Under 12's have 2 teams in Division 4. One side won by 22 goals to 0, one team lost 22 goals to 1.
Same club did a similar thing in under 13's last season, albeit in 2 divisions. Unfortunately when we played their bottom side, their top side had a bye, so they dropped 8 players down, and this gave them their only 2 wins in our division for the season.

The basic point is that once you get past under 10s is you shouldn't have two teams in the same division. Inherently problematic.

Big advocate for Div 1/Div 2/Div 3 or Red/Blue/White or whatever they call it now. Letting kids develop against similar levels of ability is for the best for everyone

It would depend on whether they are suitable for the grade. I have no problem with our teams being in the same Div if that's appropriate. Obviously bigger clubs will have this happen to them more than smaller ones.

In the instance you speak of above, clearly they're not realistically in the same div but I can see it happen in future.

Why Jo?

If they're in the best 10 teams why wouldn't you be in the same grade? Would you rather the Div 2 team win by 25 goals every week?

By the sounds of the situation described both teams aren't in the top 10 teams. One is and one isn't. That's what should be avoided.

There's enough divisions for this to not occur, it will change after round 3.

I take my hat off to Brighton, their current under 14 side had two teams in the top division for the past couple of years and were both very even and both finished mid table.

I think they will win two flags this season as they are now in div 1 and div 5.

I presume there are drawn to play each other if they are in the same division? That can cause massive issues from a club harmony perspective.

From what is being described re Glenunga above (which I have no knowledge of) that would be an insane thing to do for that basis alone.

Causing 40 odd parents to get pissed off at a situation like that is unwise and far more trouble than any Under 12 Div 3 glory is worth.

Great effort by Glenunga to get three Under 12 sides up though.

Had a cracking game in the u16.5's against Rosie's last week, really enjoyable.

Quick question for those involved, in the u14's we are finding the squad limitation of 28 very restrictive, any other clubs have this issue? in the first 2 rounds we have only been able to put 19 and 17 on the park from that 28 squad due to holidays, sickness and injury yet we have a heap of u13's that would love to have a hitout to give us a full 22 but we can't as they would then count as one of the 28 squad. Any thoughts?

I'd take not having enough over having too many any day.

15 rounds, 6 kids missing out each round makes it bloody hard for a coach to find the right blend between winning, developing and giving kids equal run time.

I am sure kids not in your 28 can play up to fill a team.

28 is too many IMO if you don’t have kids playing SANFL

Thats our point, we have 28 but then have 5 injuries, 4 kids away and 2 kids sick and you are down to 17 like we were last week. That is no good for us or our opposition. We have another 20 u13 kids that would love to make us up to 22 but they can't as they are not in the squad of 28.

These teams are purely for development purposes to supplement the Saturday teams which is a primary focus so we are not trying to win a flag, just trying to put 22 on the park.

Surely the under 13's can step up to fill in, I thought it was capped at 28 per age group.
