Goodwood deserved the win but 3 more scoring shots by us at least indicates we held our own for much of the day. Our lower grades were exposed to the depth of a Div 1 powerhouse and it was a tough day for them. At least we know what we're up against now and probably good to play a club first up that is a benchmark for strength across all grades.

Good game of footy.
Brighton up with the big boys now and were tested big time all over the ground.

How did Goodwood's new attacking game plan look?

Brighton appeared to play a loose man back at least in the first half so Brighton did well when the ball came in quick.
Goodies appeared to have plenty of scoring options though forward of centre.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

I thought Brighton were very good and held their own.
Plenty of clubs have walked away with a loss from that oval so don’t be too discouraged.

Brighton were very impressive on Saturday. they setup really well behind play and when you have the likes of #32 Trembath kicking the footy off half back you can really set the side up. also#9 Jay Boyle was doing what he likes as #7 karger was prettyquiet after 1/4 time. their midfield is immense and they are contested beasts. I reckon they won most stats on Saturday but kicking for goal was a problem. Goodwood kicking 7 in the last qtr prob didnt help.

Was a cracking game and if your off your game Brighton will make you pay. their skills by foot was very impressive. They have a big unit in ruck aswell. be interesting how he goes this week against Josh Miller

And after Easter it's a big Anzac Day clash between Brighton and Henley at Henley. Could be a chance to meet the famous Marbles if they let him out the asylum for the day.

TTG 12.11 d Goodwood 11.8. Gullies were in control almost all day. Goodwood had a crack late and got within a goal, but Gullies steadied for a deserved win. It was reported that Goodwood would be more attacking this year. No sign of it today. Consistently set up with plus 2 in defence and rarely switched play when they won possession.

PNU the early favorite. Recently they have struggled early and come home hard the back half of the year. They look fit and ready to take all before them atm.

Round 3 looks interesting and important already for a few sides Henley vs Brighton looms as a massive clash you don't want to go 0-3. We will learn plenty with PAOC vs Districts and SPOC vs Payneham.

Cameron Milne a massive in for PNU and I think they are entitled to be tthe early favourites.

Well, obviously you weren't at the game. Brighton were way too good and were 7 goals up late in the final qtr when I left. Probably should have been further in front. Brighton look to be a well balanced team and could push for a finals spot. Juniper did his hammy in the last qtr, so he'll be missing a few games. Henley were poor. Plenty of endeavour, but they are lacking class players and their disposal by foot is terrible.

Good summary. Henley very young side having lost all their experienced players. Very even comp, but think they are the certainty to be relegated back to Div 2 next year!

There is certainly a stack load of division 1 talent on that team list and in my opinion losing johncock, ebert and gautesen isnt overly significant however there is still some serious calibre in the side maybe theyre all flat deflated and yes 15 weeks until div 1 relegation. We lose serious talent every year its nothing new as big clubs would know
