Well, another loss. Rd 1, 33 points, Rd 2, half that, Rd 3, about the same, Rd 4, 2 points up there.
The signs are better. The ball use into forward 50 is abhorrent and not of AFL standard. I can excuse that because with McKay, McGovern, Gibbons, Cas etc haven't played much with each other. But that will run thin shortly.
McGovern must wonder whether it's worth the move. He used to get hit on the chest when a guy is storming toward him but not at Carlton. Dow missed him twice - actually cleared him twice. The major issue is that it's the execution of the skills that's letting us down.
I thought we went in top heavy this week. McGovern, Cas (back up ruck), Lobbe, McKay, Curnow, all talls in the slippery conditions. That was my only concern, however it didn't upset us too much, however we desperately need a small crumbing forward - Gibbons isn't that guy. I'd like to see him pinch hit through the midfield more. Not sure what our answer is there with Cuningham out. E Curnow missed a left footer 15 m from goal in the dying minutes which would've sealed it but missed.
Liam Jones was outstanding as was Newman. Should've won... didn't.
