How did the Barmera-Monash v Red Cliffs trial go?

Can't take to much out of trial games but hearing some huge positives down Barmera from the weekend. Dillon Millard looks super fit & back to his best & even though the recruits played a good part, some of those locals have found their mojo again.

Anyword on the Renmark v Tanunda trial? Think they played 6qtrs..... Would of been warm!!

Renmark went down to a full strength Tanunda, had heard they have played a couple trials before this game so it would have been a good hit out for the Rovers

Fair result as Reddy are a quality team and club. Should take plenty of confidence as best teams in Sunraysia are of a fair standard normally well above RFL.

Yep. Sounds like they are really struggling for numbers. Independant comp really needs to keep every team they can with just 14 rounds as it is draw is very fair playing each team twice. Hopefully they can rally put a team on the park and get competitive again soon

I know it is a rather touchy subject & don't want to upset anyone but at what point is it all to much for the Riverland to run both leagues?

Sounds like Loxton & Loxton North are struggling numbers wise, not just seniors but also juniors. Can Loxton keep feeding both RFL clubs plus Wunkar & Brownswell?

Every community deserves a football club but each year, it seems to get harder & harder......

Thats a fair question and one worth discussing. If loxtons 2 teams are struggling down the track they may have to merge meaning rfl back to 5 teams. This would be more sustainable hopefully.

Rifl just hangs on as long as it can after that as far as im concerned. Explore options such as 16 a side and comp just runs until you are down to 3, 4 or 5 clubs and they collectively pull pin much like they did in mid murray league st some point. Juniors are nearly done so maybe it will just be a senior comp similar to millewa football league in victoria. Sadly Rifl might really struggle in next 5-10 years to keep its head above water. Hope it finds a way as like you said rural communities need their footy and netball club to survive.

Good to see ex Roo Stevie Burton having a good start to the year with the Centrals Ressie's, if he keeps on racking up the numbers he won't be far off making his league debut

Did anyone see the Ramco v Waikerie (B’s) trial?

Thoughts on Ramco for the season ahead? Improvement? Contenders?

I heard Waikerie comfortable winners in the end but it did get close at one stage, Ramco playing with no bench.

A few more rather interesting moves into the independents:

Tyson Linday to Lyrup
Luke Worsfold to Wunkar

Any word on the Pickles Arnold situation from last weekend?

Can't be a bad thing surely? Most overrated bloke to pull the boats on that I can remember. Hopefully they don't welcome him back when he gets sick of Lyrup and wants to come back in a few weeks time.

Maybe he can start his own league. Teams can consist of Yatala, Mobilong, Cadell, Port Augusta, The Remand Centre and Mt Gambier.
