Great result but surely this wouldn’t have come cheaply? Witch gets back to why was the money not acceptable for the previous coach as they didn’t have money to fill the safety cap?

Trevor Mitton isn't getting any more money than the previous coach. In fact it's my understanding that money hasn't even been discussed. Trevor lives in the Aldinga area and has a strong desire to see the club and the league succeed.

So the money you keep referring to is non existent. It's very naive to think any football club committee wouldn't support their senior coach by making all resources available. AFC has supported the previous coach to its full ability and to suggest otherwise is pure ignorance. The president of AFC has been in that position for 10 years, he literally is the reason for the club not closing its doors all that time ago. He is highly respected around the league, if you doubt that, then why would Trevor Mittons accept the position?

I am lead to believe he was approached by SFL and that it is a caretaker role? Anyone from Aldinga know more?

AFC could not have planned for the senior coach to resign after 2 games. Trevor Mittons was spoke to by AFC for the first time this week.

The SFL were involved in discussions with both AFC and Mitts. How ever initial contact was made to Mitts by AFC. At this stage it is a caretaker role, however AFC is very interested in retaining Mitts past this year. Obviously a lot of water has to go under the bridge first.

Seemed to all happen within 48 hours, good on all parties, there is no reason why Aldinga shouldn't be a very strong club.

Organisation surely ? Nine teams, no ANZAC Day game, poor crowd turn outs per club, not being able to retain members on SFL board, etc, etc, etc

I will fire Dutchy up with this one but pretty poor from SFL & FHFC for not playing the GF rematch on Anzac Day itself. Fully understand not playing when it is a Thursday in most years Anzac Day falls on that day but not when the Saturday before is Easter. The host club usually gets some say with the timing of the Anzac Day game so I'm sure Flaggies were given the opportunity to ask for the game to be played on 25 April. So come on Dutchy, please explain why Flaggies dropped the ball on this one. Surely wouldn't have happened on the Nuts man watch.

Believe it was the RSL who did not want the game to be on the Thursday. FHFC certainly wanted it to be. The game is now part of Diggers Day with one off guernseys designed by the RSL and special guests (Keith Payne VC, Tim Britten CV). If it was on the Thursday we would not have been able to have those guests, nor would we have been provided the guernseys... Which in the end were auctioned off for over $5,000 - all of which went to the RSL.

Anzac Day is Saturday next year. GF rematch or not, I suppose that's a forfeit win for your opponent because the RSL won't let you play?
