yes they can play up but they then take one of the 28 spots, so basically means they can't fill in on an ad-hoc basis, which is hurting us as we do have u13's keen to have a crack at u14's

These teams are purely for development purposes to supplement the Saturday teams which is a primary focus so we are not trying to win a flag, just trying to put 22 on the park.

Surely the under 13's can step up to fill in, I thought it was capped at 28 per age group.

Not that we have been told, agree that 28 per age group (in u14 no more than 28 2005 born kids) would be easy to work with as you could then play as many u13 kids as you wanted to fill a team when absences occur.

That surprises me, I didn’t think that was the case. I thought if you were short you could bring players up from a lower team if required and it not effect your squad numbers

This isn't having a go at the league cause we have found it excellent so far and we are working to see what we can do (SFL Sunday comp is now down to 3 teams!) but in our circumstances it is restrictive to putting 22 on the park but I can also see why the rule is in place, with so many clubs so close together I presume the rule is there to make sure all clubs get a spread of players and they dont all go to a few.

I didn’t take it as having a go at all. I thought it was a genuine question and I was trying to help as I’ve been a team manager and coach

What is the minimum number of players before a forfeit is awarded?
My lads team playing 3 under 13's this week due to injuries and a couple of players playing for Westies under 14 development squad.

With the 3 under 13's they have 19, take them away and they have 16! or is there rules where the opposition has to play the same number of kids on the field as the opposition has i.e 16 V 16

Teams have to even up at each quarter break.

So if you have 16 the fair play rule say they must start with 16. If during a quarter there is an injury they don’t have to even up until the next break but most teams if they notice will do it straight away. Some clubs don’t unfortunately even if they know and the kid is injured because of a poor sling tackle (not that I’m still fuming)

Watched Blackwood vs Hope Valley today while I was cooking the BBQ at Hope Valley, Agree Blackwood by about 80 to 100 points.

Couldn't believe the size of Athelstone Oval yesterday, my god that is one big (wide) ground, would have to be the biggest in the AdFL comp?

I hadn't noticed before, it is weirdly shaped and doesn't see that long from goal to goal.

How was this ground marshall yesterday, firstly she told a 5 year old kid off for kicking the ball near the goals during quarter of a game, when the mum went to ask what the problem was she told her "no one is allowed on the oval at all during any break".
Secondly "When the players from the game after went to do a warm up at half time of the same game, she ordered them off the field.
Then, another young un and his dad was ordered off the field while having a kick, the dad told her he aint moving, she then rang the club secretary to tell her and that the club will be fined.

Yep reckon its bigger than Kenilworth, although maybe its made worse as the visitors coaches box is down one end so the Northern end seems in another suburb!

Played on both. Reckon Kenilworth has Athelstone covered.

I did some measurements in google maps and ...
Athelstone is approx. 164m long x 119m wide
St Marys 169m x 122m
Salisbury 174m x 119m

Cheers, all pretty close then, St Mary's visually probably looks smaller due to the fence around it, what these measurements don't cover is how wide the pockets are on some grounds so some might actually have more space while being smaller in length and width.
