The only getout clause is if you've represented the APFL 12 times. 12.

12 times is based on 2 games per carnival = 6 yrs, Under 15s/u17s are too now run under different rules, Board will choose the players to train then chose the team that represents the APFL, all the coach does is coach, and if you don't turn up to training or play if chosen they will be suspended , not sure if it applies to U14 but wouldn't surprise me, interesting watching the reserves at Mallala Saturday, not sure on club members umpiring.

Under 15's still was club nominated for the squad then coach and selectors will pick final 25 out of those that train. Coach can request a player be invited to train of the club doesn't originally nominate them.

Jessen was not suspended by the league after that game
Salisbury North told him he was not required
The Advertiser report is pretty accurate about what happened
I don’t know if he has any suspensions from previous years

Has never been suspended in senior footy.

facts
• convicted criminal for violence & fire arm offences....
• past enforcer with bikie gang
• allegedly belted a bloke in footy return off the ball just 3yrs ago
• booted from most violent club in state for being 'undisciplined'

bad look for league. bad look for club.

Talent = yes

must hav stricked overheads on him if he is to play. 1 strike = out.

Watched Jessen play on the weekend. Looked okay, kept his head (hopefully will do all season), massive unit with a booming kick to match.

Josh Gould......... Please!!! He is lost without Nathan Young by his side!! IMO Jas Earl with his passion and experience is made for this job!!... Surely the league has to bring in a split round (Have 4 teams play one week and the other 4 the week after) in the second half of the season to give guys a week off if that’s the case surrounding the availability rule.

Threatening players with suspension for not playing in a game that is basically meaningless is a joke.

If they don't want to play LC they definitely aren't going to want to play further zone footy.

They aren't idle threats AE, they follow through with the suspensions every year regardless of what excuse or reason the player can't represent the APFL.

Nobody was suspended last year. I think the selectors just picked the guys who wanted to play and to save players getting suspended, hence the results.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Former Virginia Rams player Ricardo Russo banned from football for life after second biting offence
Ben Harvy, The Advertiser

A northern suburbs footballer and father-of-two has been banned for life after biting an opposition player — in his return game after serving a suspension for an earlier biting offence.

Virginia Rams B-Grade player Ricardo “Ricky” Russo was found guilty of biting for the second time in a tribunal hearing on Wednesday and banished from the Adelaide Plains Football League.

The 10-match ban inflated Russo’s career tally to 25 games and well past the league’s 16-game threshold for a life ban.

Russo, who was not present at the hearing, bit a Hummocks-Watchman Football Club player on the arm during the Rams’ 61-36 loss at Port Wakefield Oval on April 27.

The match was Russo’s return to the field after an eight-week suspension for an identical offence — against the same team at the same location — that targeted a different player on May 12 last year. The Rams were defeated 71-29.

Adelaide Plains Football League president Michael Vigor said Russo’s suspension in 2018 was increased by three games because of an “inappropriate social media post” targeting a Hummocks player after the incident.

Mr Vigor said Russo’s latest indiscretion was the “height of stupidity” and “almost like deja vu”.

“There’s no way you can condone that type of behaviour,” he told The Advertiser.

“You have to feel for the victims of these types of incidents. They shouldn’t have to be subjected to that.

“It’s not a good look for league (and) for the individual it’s not a good look for them.”

The Advertiser understands the latest incident occurred in a tackle just before half-time.

Mr Vigor said Russo’s ban was recognised across the country and his behaviour was not “taken lightly by the league”.

The ban also means Russo is unable to hold any official position within the APFL for at least two years.

Last month, The Advertiser revealed former Finks bikie Dylan Jessen would make his amateur comeback with Virginia Football Club’s A-Grade team.

Reviving a controversial career that stalled when he was dumped by Salisbury North in 2016, the young father debuted on April 27 in Virginia’s 96-point loss to Hummocks-Watchman.

What is the salary cap in the APFL?

How much cash are players giving up to not play?

Pretty certain the lack of interest from most players has nothing to do with $$, but rather the opportunity to have a rare week away from footy. The Landmark Cup weekend is always on June long weekend which also offers a perfect opportunity to take a few days off work/footy. This opportunity is even more valuable to players since the introduction of AV to league which has resulted in the removal of the bye. Spare a thought for someone like a Jordan Clements in recent years who played every minor round match plus Landmark Cup, plus two games in one weekend on the Zone weekend. Is it really any surprise that some of these guys, especially those who have played association footy for 4-5 years, would rather a week off?

IMO the only solution to this if the APFL go down the mandatory part is that we have a split round at some point mid-year.

The short halves wouldn't be too appealing either, you'd spend more time travelling to the game than playing, and playing off for 3rd & 4th.

You're right, a split round somewhere in the season, a proper game against another league, the winners play off in the GF for the Landmark Cup.

That is what I was getting at swamp donkey, the week off is a godsend, especially if your team is getting flogged each week.

I know the spencer gulf/ whyalla game this weekend was cancelled last year due to lack of interest (mainly from Whyalla end I believe) SG were looking at joining Mortlock or Landmark Cup, not sure if any progress has been made.

On another note - it would seem the APFL board has let Two Wells get away with breaching their points allocation in Round 1. It's been 10 days and the ladder remains unchanged, I can only assume that is the case.

Did Rogan play at least 25 junior games for Two Wells? Is that what is under investigation and holding it up?

They haven’t been let off.
Copped the loss of points and a $1000 fine. No appeal due to it was just a mistake and have no case to fight.
Ladder just hasn’t been updated.

Interesting precedent. Surely the fine is suspended?
