Talk on the national game

I can live with the alcohol prices as they have to make money but they need to make the price of food for kids more realistic.
I know people will say you can take your own but the kids look forward to something different when they go.

It wasn’t the ticket costs more so the food and alcohol prices at AO.

Staying home with Foxtel plus your own food/grog with friends around is the cheaper and easier options for most now.

The weather and time slots don’t help but the prices at AO for the average family now is ridiculous.

It's becoming prohibitive for some, no question.

My two tickets are around $1000 per year for reserved seating, about $45 per seat per game x 2 = $90 , throw in around twice that per week on beers ( my choice ) and that's about $180 per game x 11 games = $2000+/- per year.

That's only two seats, if you have a family of 4 and Mum and Dad have a grog or two, it would be $2000+ per year. Adds up in the end.

Throw in, that in a high percentage of cases im sure most people may need to miss out one game throughout a season for one reason or another increasing the cost per match figure.

Absolutely, something invariably pops up and you only need to miss 1 or 2 games and it can become $60 per game fairly quickly.

Times 2 for 2 kids plus 2 beers for me and a cider for the wife and you are $70 down before the game even starts.

I don’t want to whinge too much coz I’m fortunate enough to be able to afford it but there are plenty that can’t.

$5.95 Stunner Meal on the way in is what I offer my boys.

My eldest and his mates actually walk into town to go to Macca's/HJ/Subway for lunch during the test match. When the next generation are doing that its a massive worry for the SMA and in turn Port/Crows/SACA.

Been to the following grounds in the last year. Cost of CC and dry around the grounds
MCG $10.50
SCG $10.50
Gabba $10:15
Adelaide Oval $14.50
Only had beer at OPTUS stadium but vaguely remember paying $9.50 for a craft beer.

That’s a fair point.

$1000 is ridiculous amount to ask for 11 games of footy for 2 people lbh

I use to sponsor the dogs for $1000 a year and I received a season ticket plus 3 free piss ups a year at the presidents functions

But when you lease an oval as oppose to own like at footy park costs were always going to go up.

Strikers crowds being so low at the big bash this season has made the break even point at Adelaide Oval for AFL over 40000.

Tough times ahead.

Nothing new there, Maccas at West Lakes used to get a fair workout pre game and at half time, kids love big brands.
