The minister of finance and recreation is off to Mildura early tomorrow for an 18th tomorrow night. I've already booked the day off of umpiring on the quiet.

The heritage tin.... brings back memories of Friday nights in the 80’s and 90’s knocking a few of these down and having a punt on the Harold Park trots..

Last Friday arvo's sportsman's luncheon at the NAFC - Mike Nunan and Graham Cornes were interviewed by David Wildy, with a bonus interview from Alan Stringer who was also in attendance (along with a number of other North and Glenelg players from the era). Some interesting thoughts and observations on the modern game, and discussions and stories about the good old days of the SANFL in the 1980s. Alan Stringer also spoke very candidly about his struggles with mental health in recent times, and how he's got been able to get through the tough times. Josh Carr also came up for a quick chat as well.

All in all, a great afternoon, which was followed by a quantity of post-luncheon Cooper's Stouts, and as a consequence, an early bedtime.

I was notified by the club as a member, but I'm not sure how widely the event was publicised in the broader footy world. You would've loved it.

Events like this should be advertised to/by all SANFL clubs.
I know of at least a dozen Bay supporters & a couple of Norwood & Sturt blokes who would’ve gone if they knew.

Good point, I would've thought if anyone should've been notified, it would've been Glenelg . That said, I'm not sure where they would've fit any one else, the function room was pretty much full.

Perhaps this thing should've been a joint venture between North and Glenelg at a neutral venue, with costs and profits split? Not sure if the economics and logistics stack up, but as you suggest, there's plenty of interest in the SANFL community for this sort of thing.
