Amazing stuff from NCN. Interesting that he took 0-70 with the ball. In the 4,151 ODIs that have previously been played, I don't think any bowler would've won MoM with figures anywhere near that bad.

Having such a long tail could be very handy for us later in the tournament.

Other than Head they were just ‘bit’ players.

Heard that a few times but the ball was moving around all over the place and if it wasn’t they wouldn’t have got the early wickets

The windies bowlers got balls to jump off good lengths and certainly roughed us up early.
I thought 200 would've been enough on that pitch with our bowling attack,The Strutter bowls mediums.
Geez Holder is impressive!
Seems a good leader and can play.

Yeah may of been moving around alot but that's no excuse for bowling way down leg side alot and short balls that went through too high, although some of the over the head wide calls were pretty tough. Always going to be risky if they're going to bowl alot of short stuff.

They were experimenting, they've got it right at the right time, even though Maxwell failed miserably and stupidly, a half century off 35 balls next hit and everyone loves him again.

I did think we batted too slow and were lucky to get away with the win, we can't rely on efforts such as NCN's to bail us out.

Really? Thought we paced the innings to perfection given the start.. went at 5's for a good 30 overs then went large the last 10.

That being operative.

Smith was lucky that NCN was hitting them so sweetly, IMO you need to be striking at least 90 once you've faced 75 balls and got yourself in.

It has been pleasing to see the ball dominating some games opposed to the 7RPO scores and above that we're more acclimatized to nowadays.

my thoughts lads fell asleep when the when the windies where 2 for 80 odd and just finished watching the rest of our bowling .

finchys captaincy was supurb in the field pulled the the right levers at the right times re Maxwell to get the runout

smiths batting seemed to me watching he was saying to stoins carey ncn play you natural game and I will still be here and we will post some thing

lasty aussies in the field would have had to have saved at least 20 to 30 runs that's nearly the game right there

any way to put it in in footy terms won ugly got away with the 2 points sit 2 zip happy days

Smith played the anchor role - would've probably gone harder earlier had NCN not fired, or had Carey managed to bat past 50.. needed him (or Carey) to bat until towards the 45th over otherwise we never would've got over 220.

Smith raced to 20 comfortably while Carey took something like 15 balls to score, then Carey lifted and they were both around 40 with Carey almost a run a ball, while Smith settled back content to work the 1s.

Also think some credit needs to go to the WI though with their bowling, there were plenty of balls that were difficult to hit and thought their fielding inside the circle was exceptionally good compared to what they normally dish up.

Out of all of it, I feel Carey's innings hasn't received the plaudits it should.. almost gone unnoticed.

Agreed bedge windies just didn't bat smart enough through the middle overs the run out was the game changer ... Might be thalking a bit through my wallet here but had 10 on the windies to win the whole shebang at 20s just prior to game 1 haven't lost hope they just need to be smarter .

Re: ODI World Cup 2019

Postby DOC » Fri Jun 07, 2019 6:42 pm

It was early in the coverage of the opening game of the World Cup when the alarm bells started to ring in the studios of Melbourne’s two sports radio networks.
Macquarie Sports and SEN had both purchased the broadcast rights for cricket’s one-day extravaganza in England through an Indian company Sports Flashes.
But with each ball that was being broadcast it quickly became apparent that the commentary they were receiving was from a couple of Indians sitting in their garage.
After some frantic phone calls it was revealed that the broadcast they were receiving was “illegal” because their Indian distributor had breached its rights agreement with the ICC.
Apparently a dispute over money with a fellow Indian company had caused the problem which they failed to pass on to radio networks around the globe who were expecting their feed.
SEN is now using an international feed provided by the ICC while Macquarie Sports is covering Australian games from its Melbourne studio with a commentary team including Darren Lehmann, Brad Hodge, Darren Berry and John Hastings.
Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg was also caught up in the Sports Flashes debacle.
He’d been hired as the company’s anchor for the World Cup coverage and knew nothing about the rights issue when he arrived in the UK.

Luckily Hogg didn’t have to turn around and come home as he was able to find some work with another broadcaster.
