A rare 5. Seeing it all tonight.

100 off 52. A very slim chance.

India win by 36.

Carey was 50 off 25 and ended up 55 off 35, got too much for him in the end.

Poor bowling by Zampa and at times Starc allowed India to get too many. Warner wasted too many balls.

Smith looked good but an unexpected mid innings stall was telling.

Result never really in doubt

Hopefully thats the last we see of Zampa in this tournament, not up to it and bleeding way too many runs

I was a little surprised Lyon didn't get a go given he's generally bowled well to India.

No early wickets let India build a nice foundation to set up a 350+ score.
Marsh in for Stoinis and Lyon in for Zampa next match, needs to happen. Possibly Behrendorff in for Coulter-Nile too.

I'd have Head in for Stoinis, if he was in the squad, that is.

WI V SA
Match abandoned
No result
Both sides receive 1 point each

Score before being called off was
SA 2/29[7.3]
De Kok 17*
Duplessis 0*
Amla 6
Markram 5
Cottrell 2/18[4]
Roach 0/10[3]
Thomas 0/1[0.3]

Safe to say WI were dominating

Question
Do the above player performances count to their overall ODI averages ?
Or are all those individual scores null and void ?

I think Lyon is a very tidy short form bowler, I see no reason at all why he isn't a walk up starter.

How often has that happened? us losing because Warner batted too slow.

Usually 84 balls would yield him around 90 runs, there would've been the difference.

I watched the innings spasmodically, was he out of sorts or was the bowling that good?

So who got sitting out? Is it:

S.Marsh
K.Richardson
N.Lyon
J.Behrendorf

What are our options?

Stoinis out for Marsh
Coulter-Nile out for Behrendorf
Zampa out for Lyon

That would leave:
Warner
Finch
S.Marsh
Smith
Khawaja
Maxwell (off)
Carey (WK)
Cummins (pace)
Starc (pace)
Lyon (off)
Behrendorf (pace)

That's getting 10 each out of our main 4 and scabbing 10 between Maxwell, Finch and Warner if we have to?

We didn't do our homework very well, Head would've given us that bit more flexibility, we put too many eggs in the Stoinis/NCN baskets hoping one of them could come up with something.

NCN would only be a game away from injuring himself again so hopefully we can send someone else over in a hurry, unfortunately Head has barely touched a bat, D'Arcy Short perhaps or are there any medium all-rounders bashing down the door?

FWIW, I half rate Cummins and Starc with the bat to be bordering all-rounder status, I wonder what they could do if we chucked them up the order to pinch hit like we used to do with Simon O'Donnell and Craig McDermott occasionally.
