Talk on the national game

Interestingly Port are now 0-3 the following game after returning from China. Is it just coincidence or not?
They looked to be running in quicksand in the final quarter yesterday

Do you think you ran out of legs boon?

I know you have just come of the bye but the bye tends to leave teams a bit flat for the week after. Whilst it is good long term for the players I just reckon the week after players tend to be blowing a bit more.

Is there a graph to back up that statement?
[emoji848] maybe.

Someone hacked your account?
A few very ordinary sides in the lower part of the 8 currently and a whole group of average sides on the whole in the middle tier. Bit of a raffle between 7 or 8 sides for the last 3 spots in the 8 and Port are still in the raffle.

Seemed the opposite for St Kilda. Looked flat in the first half, full of run in the second.

I reckon they will go with Wines, Ebert and Dixon back in from the Magpies today.

How many credits does Ryder have in the bank and when do the club start to play the younger blokes? He looked absolutely cooked after quarter time and has fallen off the cliff. One of your supporters at Alberton yesterday mentioned it’s rumoured he has asked for a new 2 year contract. Surely not [emoji15]

Credits are running low, given how Frampton and Ladhams are building.

Apparently wants 2 years, yes.

2 years for Paddy or lose one or both of Frampton and Ladhams would be a no brainer for the club wouldn’t it?
Not sure he has 2 months left in him let alone 2 years.
Plenty of clubs would be keeping their eye out on how things progress

I'd be reticent to give him a 1 year deal right now.

@Booney

How would you rate Port's recruiting of 'recycled' players that they got from other clubs. There seems to be a fair few misses there and only a few out and out undisputable wins being Ebert, Rockliff and Lycett.

Do you believe this is a key contributor to why Port haven't progressed a whole lot in recent times despite a pretty talented young core coming through.

-Ryder
-Dixon
-Lycett
-Watts
-Rockliff
-Sutcliffe
-Mayes
-Ebert
-Motlop
-McKenzie

-Ryder - FA. All Australian 2017, without question, win. Without him we would have had to stick with Lobbe or a kid.
-Dixon - Had to find a key forward with Schulz at the end of his career and Harvey/Shaw falling well short of expectation. Win.
-Lycett - FA. With Ryder at the end of his time and at this time last year Frampton and Ladhams only just going along, had to get him. Win.
-Watts - FA. Jury is out, given this years early form, but signs suggest a loss, got him for free though. Loss.
-Rockliff - FA. Jury is out, he's slowing down quickly and has 2 years to run on his deal. Win, just.
-Sutcliffe - FA/Top up. Again, freebie, really an upgraded rookie so didn't get listed at the expense of a kid.
-Mayes - Loss. Doesn't look like he'll get into the AFL side, the steak knives in the pick swap with Brisbane.
-Ebert - Picks 28 and 49 that we got for Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan. Win. 160 games so far, gives his all every week.
-Motlop - Loss. Not typing any more.
-McKenzie - Loss, got him for free though.

Bar Dixon none of the list above have come at any great cost in regards to picks or trades. Motlop's 4 years at $500k is a loss, given he's got 2 years to run and should this week be back at SANFL level for good. Might be paying out the last year on that deal as Amon and Duursma get picked ahead of him on the wings with Westhoff there as an option.

Dixon- Less then 2 goals a game since arriving at Port as a forward. Mediocre
Ryder- One really good season, 2 Average Seasons, 1 poor. - Mediocre
Rockliff- 2nd Season of just Average Football.- Mediocre
Watts- Below Standard at Melb, Same at Port- Mediocre
Lycett- 1 Season, too early to say, but is not even close to the AFLs top 10 Rucks.

Ebert is your only real winner out of the recycled guys so far.

Look at what options we had on our list when both these guys were taken.

Dixon spent most of last year in the ruck.
