How hard is it uprooting and moving interstate for work?

I've got inside 4 hours to make a decision on applying for a role in Yatala, Queensland, most of me says be selfish and go for it, the reserved part thinks of all the real shit it could cause.

It’s hard mate. For lots of reasons. So my advice is do the benefits outweigh the alternatives?

I've always wanted to live up there, will just be a bit weird not being so hands on with my kids sports.

I currently leave for work around 6:30am each morning and I'm rarely home before 6:30pm each night, it's pretty taxing, I rarely eat dinner because of it.

They've been spending more time at their mum's lately since we moved, it's closer to school for them.

Ultimately the choice will be up to them but I'd gather they'd wanna stay near their friends etc.

I can fly down on the weekends and their school holidays would be awesome being about 15 minutes away from Wet'n'Wild, Movie World and Dreamworld.

No shit, most of the time I feel that I merely just "exist".

I think most people feel this way at some point mate, possibly for much of their life. If you have the opportunity to do more than that, you need to seriously consider it mate. Only get the one go at this gig called life.

Far enough, I thought they lived with you predominantly and the custody agreement might not allow them to move interstate

Unfortunately kids as they get older don’t need them as much.....unless it’s as a Uber

If they are anything like mine there wouldn’t be more than 30 minutes that they are not eating

They were until December, my son is about 40/60 now and daughter is every now and then, he's almost 14, shes 16.5, she goes to school, works most nights and weekends if she isn't at footy or training as she plays for 3 teams as well as volleyball, but she's pretty self-sufficient and sorts most of her own transport out.

There has never been a legal agreement, it's always been wherever the kids want to stay, as long as we know in the morning if there's a change of plan for the evening.

Monday to Friday it's Groundhog Day in the morning. Groundhog Night in the evening. I think that's why life feels like it's moving so fast, days blur into each other and most weeks it feels like one day on repeat for 5 rounds and then 45 minutes of blink and you miss it weekend.

That's what I keep telling myself, work is no stimulant, I just go through the motions day after day, I actually come to work for a rest.

You're not wrong there, I umpire 3 games of footy on Saturday's, coach an under 7 team Sunday morning then my son plays later in the day, my daughter plays some Sundays too.

I'm looking forward to finding a pub in Adelaide by 12pm tomorrow and having an all arvo session with a few boys and heading over to the footy to watch Geelong pump Port. Bring it on.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Queens Head always used to be a good pub for pre-game beers
