Got a couple down my neck at The Lakes last night, as with all Coopers products ( IMO ), quality.

Very sparkling like when it was cold out the tap, much murkier and thicker than sparkling (think the last 10% of a pint of muddy sparkling) , as it got closer to room temperature the hops came to the fore, not a lot of "bouquet" but you can smell the hops.

I'm not a real fan of the "big" hoppy beers, this one is about right for mine.

From what ive read it, it has a good balance of hops and the bitterness is probably just enough to give you a nice bite without being overbearing??

Yep, I'd agree with that, good description. Full on hoppy beers don't do it for me and this, while hoppy isn't over the top. I'm keen for it to hit the bottle shop shelf and nail a half dozen one Friday night in front of the footy.

Bought some Go Shu Aussie sake after a tasting at the Penrith plant earlier in the year.
My fiancee's Japanese daughter-in-law says it is good - "much better than the stuff my father imports from home".

Well worth doing the tour of Pirate Life if you're interested in the brew process and not just drinking beer.

Good insight into mass production and how brewers go about creating the deliciousness that they do.

I’m keen to do this.
Whilst Pirate Life isn’t my favourite beer, I’m still keen to see the process and enjoy a few beers afterwards.

They've added some lagers to their range, giving those of us who aren't into the big heavy or hoppy beers an option. They also have some guest brewers on tap now from time to time offering more options for punters.

Tried the red ale last night, would normally baulk at a red ale, this one was most palatable on a cold night.

Tried it yesterday, I didn't find it as hoppy as the Session Ale. The best description I can think of; "this is Coopers Pale Ale with extra hops (bittering and aroma)". Too sweet for my palate, but good for one or two now and then. Better marketed than the session, but not as good.
