Heard the other day that in the last 12 months it has been the first time in 20+ years they have not grown their sales from the previous year

I think they could afford to do one thing most smaller brewers couldn't, purely by economy of scale and that's cap their pricing over the bar and at the drive thru.

If they made pints $6 every where, all the time and cartons $50 everywhere all the time (in SA) they'd be the ones tapping a keg every minute and not CUB.

High quantity and low margins creates its own problems though, I was actually surprised they had kept growing their sales YOY for 20 years, thats a fair effort.

Agree.
When some pubs are charging $8.50 a pint(not happy hour) for Coopers and you can get $6 CUB products, it’s a no brainer for me.

I’m a Carlton draught fan anyway but I don’t mind coopers either.

The group my local is a part of NEVER has Pale on special, often has XXXX on special or Super Dry and the response I got when I spoke to the group manager ( not the venue manager ) was that "Our pubs in the Northern suburbs prefer the XXXX specials". That's great for the punters in the west.

The pub I work at is getting rid of XXXX on tap at the direction of our area manager. Also taking Monteiths and 5 seeds off.
Adding Carlton Dry, Coopers Session Ale and Furphys. Most of our beers have been on special at one stage or another, Pale twice in the last 6 months.

The pub I drink at has Pale and Session $6 all the time and $5 during happy hours, its actually the cheapest beer on tap.

Coopers recently had a bad batch of Pale which wouldn't have helped their tap sales. They had to do a fair bit to appease pubs.

Woolworths is punting pubs and pokies out of its business, announcing plans to spin off its drinks and hotel interests next year.

Gaming has always been contentious for Woolworths, but it says it is getting out of it to let various businesses reach their full potential
In a release to the ASX, the supermarket chain said it would package together its drinks, hospitality and gaming interests in the Endeavour Drinks and ALH Group businesses ahead of either a de-merger, or "other value accretive alternatives", such as a trade sale, in 2020.

The merger of Endeavour Drinks and ALH will create Australia's largest standalone integrated alcohol and hospitality business, with sales of around $10 billion and pre-tax earnings of $1 billion.

The new Endeavour group will house more than 1,500 BWS and Dan Murphy's outlets and 327 ALH hotels.

Anyone rate any mid/low strength beers.

I've bee sampling a few different ones for outings where I have to drive home.

The Corona Ligera, Peroni Leggera or the Boags Wild River are all beers that don't lack taste when losing percentage.

Mids yep.

I love them. You can have more drinks and still drive home and be under the limit (importantly).

In order of taste;

James Squire The Constable - 3.4%
Little Creatures - Rogers - 3.8%
Lazy Yak - 3.5%
Coopers - Mild Ale - 3.5%

In order of cheapest to most expensive

Coopers $47 (375ml bottle)
Lazy Yak $48 (330ml bottle)
James Squire $49 (345ml bottle)
Little Creatures $62 (330ml bottle)

James Squires is miles ahead in taste IMO.

Others I've tried;

XXXX Gold - myah, will drink it on tap if it's cheap
Great Northern - ok
Hahn Super Dry 3.5 - terrible, my wife drinks it.
Carlton Mid - ok

One I haven't tried but want to;

Matilda Bay Redbacks $54
Ballistic Beer Co. Pilot Light $70

actually, just doing some more reading, that is only 1% apparently of their barrelled bourbon, and as it was all young whiskey in that warehouse, it wont affect supply at all. (that means they have around 4 and a half million barrels..... wow)

so maybe no need to start stockpiling just yet.
