Nassar made a good point about the NRR. If NZ and Pakistan are tied on points then Pakistan should progress as they beat NZ. Both teams had rain abandoned games, NZ v India and Pakistan v Sri Lanka. If results in those games went as expected then the NRR would be a lot closer.

If those games weren't abandoned Paki's would've finished higher full stop.

Yeah true. Without knowing how the NRR works there seems to be too many variables that could impede a teams chances. Weather and pitch conditions being a few.

Shaun Marsh hit in the nets by Cummins, ruled out of World Cup, replaced by Handscomb.

He was initially the next one in line when the WC squad was picked, I thought Head or Wade would of been in front of him now though.

Them two spring to mind immediately, Head by a smidgen being a number 3 and to bowl some darts.

Head can essentially bat anywhere in the top 5 and yes got him as a bowling option too. Obviously the selectors think he's better off captaining Aus A instead of being upgraded to the WC squad.

As much as I'd love to support your sarcasm, he done himself no favours with the opportunities he was given during our summer, all bullshit aside, he could really be captaining Australia by now, if he was firing when Finch was failing he'd have the job.

He's young though and our better batsman (and all captains) have all been discarded at some stage and come back far better for it (Smith, Clarke, Ponting, S.Waugh)

True that he didn't nail those opportunities, I still think Head would of been the most likely to come in, nothing against Handscomb though he's probably playing well enough to get selcted. At least with the Aus A tour running parallel with the WC all the guys are ready to go which is perfect.

What a cop out.. yeah he failed vs SA during the summer - wasn't afforded the chance to play against India.. prior to that reeled off 3x 50's in England - you know, where the WC is currently being played.

Finch was afforded every opportunity to get himself back in form.. and we accept mediocrity from the likes of Stoinis and NCN coz they can look flashy and amazing when they click.

Handscomb averages 34 in ODI's with 1x 100 and 4x 50's and lets face it he was recalled to the Aussie side in summer off the back of T20 form.. not saying he's not good enough to play now or be included, but certainly seems there are different criteria for different players.
