Taking the result out of it I would love the question to be asked as to why Dhoni has slipped down the order to 7.

NZ desperately need to get Pant now

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that point. The Indian bowlers got plenty of assistance and batting was not easy, even for guys like Williamson and Taylor. I'm not seeing the Kiwi bowlers getting anything more out of the pitch than what their Indian counterparts got.
