Very little depth with both bat and ball. Too reliant on 4 or 5 players.

I'm still not sure how they defended such a poor total. A couple of their passengers are sure to go for 8 or 9 an over on Sunday assuming conditions are better in London.

I agree they don't have the depth of either Australia or England, but sometimes you only need 4 or 5 players to have good games. The balll will swing early at Lords and Boult is capable of knocking over the top order. They will not start favourites, but they are in it and have potentially 2 extra days rest than their opponent. They have to be given some chance.

Couldn’t get near 200 against either us or the Poms. Their batting is pathetic aside from Williamson and Taylor. Can see either of us knocking them over for under 150

Australia have been pretty reliant on just 5 players - Warner, Finch, Carey, Starc, Cummins, with a couple other cameos.
Although it's probably a good thing Smith isn't in that group and what he could do on a day, but then whose to say Guptil won't find form and hit 60 off 40?
If NZ play AUstralia, I think NZ are better placed than 2015 when the game was virtually over when Starc knocked over McCullum in the first over.

Thought between overs 30-45 New Zelanand's bowling was a little ordinary. Too much short-of-a-length from the seamers with little variance in length or angle around the wicket. Similarly, Santner became a little predictable and didn't try to slide a few wide of Jadeja

Jadeja is a gun all rounder, I can't understand why he isn't playing all 3 forms regularly, typical of the BCCI and favouring their aging stars over new emerging talent. (i.e. Dhoni over Pant)

NZ will be handful on the final regardless of they play, they love the under dog tag and will be up for it.

Australia have to first focus on what's ahead tonight. England are up and about at the moment and I am not confident of us getting up. Mainly because we can expect a good old fashion English wicket and conditions out there.

Interesting game tonight

Why didn't day 2 start at the same time as day 1 finishing?

New Zealand had to bat, twice, in the morning session and India, when they really should have been coming out to bat later in the afternoon, started their innings in the morning when the track was probably a bit juicier.

1 - If they're going to have a reserve day for ODI's then at least stop/start at the same time
2 - Reserve days are bullshit in a tournament like this, that's why you play to win and get the advantage

It's not about the fairness of the comp, its about ensuring profits.

Bookies cancel all bets if the game doesn't finish (and therefore miss out on their profit).
Reserve days will be required where there is a genuine threat of weather.

I have no problems with having a reserve day for the finals. I don't think the pitch changes much from morning to afternoon. It's not as if the Manchester sun is beating down on it .... they turned the lights on at 10.30am the other day.
I like the idea of watching one innings from 7.00pm to 11.30pm one night and watching the second innings from 7.00pm to 11.30pm the following night.

Got a feeling Smith might go big in tonights game, although still think the Poms will win. For anyone interested Sportsbet have an offer paying $5.50 for either Smith or Warner to win MOTM.

I can only hope langer is putting that in the media to try and bluff the poms.
I would like to see Wade in for Uzzie as the only change, but agree the selectors see Handscomb as a like for like, and also don't want to be seen to have Wade 'jumping the queue' after they put Handscomb into the squad first.

For mine the strange one is the possible dropping of Maxwell. I recon he's better than "the rig" in all forms, bat, bowl and field. Furthermore, by dropping Maxi for Wade, you now have a situation where you have 5 bowling options, and the 6th is a long way back in Finch or Smith. Stoinis is hardly super reliable to get through his 10, I don't like the idea of having to get 10 from him without Maxi as back up.

Personally I'd do Wade for Uzzie and leave it at that.
If they want both Wade and Handscomb in, then I'd leave out Stoinis, not Maxi.

Sounds like our lads... lots of passengers.
This is now England's WC to lose...their main rival is ousted.

Boult Henry Ferguson Santner are quality their fifth bowler is the weakness CDG/Neesham, I wonder what happened to Corey Anderson.

Williamson is the key bat, no others have done any damage, get him cheaply and they are in all-sorts.
Dave Warner will be missed!

Just because they didn't hit 350 doesn't mean it was a poor total. Proved right in the end!

Anyway, I'd rather have games of cricket like this than replicate a long-er version of T20, where 350's would be the norm.
