The South-East Melbourne Phoenix lost the second and final game of their China trip to Shanghai Sharks 76-71. Top scorers for the Phoenix were Kendall Stephens with 22 and Kyle Adnam with 19.

Also Basketball Australia have added young gun Xavier Cooks to our Boomers squad for the World Cup. Cooks is the son of Hawks assistant coach Eric Cooks and has been playing in Germany.

From Boti Nagy in 36ers rumour news Joey Wright did a speech at the Free Throw Foundation luncheon yesterday said it's almost certain Jacob Wiley won't be returning next season. Joey said Wiley would be likely to receive an offer from a Euro club to the tune of three times the amount he had signed on with the Sixers for next season. He also said the Sixers have already lined up a replacement American who can play the 1,2,3,4 spots and compared him to the late Chris Williams.

There is a report that current 36ers import Jacob Wiley has supposedly agreed to terms with Greek powerhouse club Panathinaikos for next season.

The Cairns Taipans have announced they've re-signed forward Fabijan Krslovic to a 1 year deal and elevated him from a development player to the full roster. Krslovic appeared in 8 games for the Taipans last season scoring 11 points in his debut against Adelaide and has been playing for the Cairns Marlins in the QBL during the off-season.

He seems the favourite. He played on the same Utah Jazz summer league team with Creek & Sobey and Joey was on the coaching staff too so got a good close look at him. Homicide said on Overtime the other night he could even be an upgrade on Wiley.

Hopefully he leaves his dad at home but you know Lavar will be coming as a package deal. Homicide won't know what to do with himself now that they're will be an even bigger mouth hanging around.

But a great coup for the NBL and especially the Hawks to sign LaMelo Ball under the Next Stars program. He's only 17 but he had some good games in the Lithuanian league and that league is no joke so obviously he can play and is projected to be a first round pick in next year's NBA Draft.

Also the NBL Select Team begins it's series against China tomorrow night. All three games will be live on Fox Sports & NBL TV starting at 9pm Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Another big coup for the Illawarra Hawks signing longtime NBA guard Aaron Brooks for the season. The 6'0" PG played 10 years in the NBA with 7 teams and won the NBA's Most Improved Player of the Year award with Houston in 2010 when he averaged 19.6 ppg and 5.3 apg. He most recently played with Minnesota in the 2017-18 season.

Also NZ Breakers PG Shea Ili has asked the club to be released from his contract which was granted and Ili has now signed with Melbourne United to a 2 year deal. He has also been named in the Tall Blacks extended squad for the upcoming World Cup in China.
