Benny Rolfs have all but wrapped up the minor premiership after they cleaned up top eight side Chicken Twisties on a weekend where the Poon were rolled by a desperate Q Before You combination. The contenders all got amongst the points this week with FISH leading the way with an impressive 2578 that may have just put kibosh on Buddy’s season this year. Inner Sanctum may have done the same to my mob as his 2541 was always going to be too much for the REBCats to reel in. With three weeks to play I can’t see the top six missing out so there are a log jam of teams duking it out for the last two places. One team of those top six has a special reason to be a bit salty is Delicious who got rolled by Ecky even though he scored 2420..well, he probably wasn’t that salty until he noticed the Captain saluted with 200 less points.

With three rounds to go the teams at the foot of the ladder start getting a bit nervous. With only two going down most sides are pretty safe but from Buddy down the need to win is most pressing. The Captain got the win for sure but no big scoring again. Sharks look very wobbly although they do have a six point advantage over the incumbent Longwood Lions. Q was impressive rolling the Poon last week and I reckon he stays up. Obviously enough the last three are the ones that are under the pump. Mediocre has had an ordinary season and will be hoping that Longwood doesn’t jag a win because I’m not sure where Feenix is getting his next win from. The Badgers have an extra win to make up so they are in a bit of bother and I reckon they go down with Mediocre looking the next likely.

Cognilio dropping has given Longwood Lions a sniff but hopefully I have enough of a buffer to secure the win

You know it's a tough old school when your reward for winning a crucial match against a team ranked higher by 103 points is rewarded by being booted out of the top eight. Such was the fate of Has Been whose Cat must have a sore arse after the kicking it must of copped on Sunday night. Other winners in what was a high standard round of scoring were given greater gifts. Richo Richo was the team who leapfrogged the Beeners as they pounded the Captain by 129 to get the slightest of percentage edges. Imagine missing out on the eight by that margin hey @hambone. Last week I laid the boots into Feenix a bit saying his team Mediocre at Best couldn't win this week unless he started last week. His response was a 2500 on the nose to spiflicate Ecky who is going so bad now they are behind the REBCats.

Hondo is in cruise control right now as the wheels for him aren't due to come off for about three weeks. He cleaned up valleys Delicious in the match of the round which sees the Hondominator sitting pretty in second spot. First and third both had solid wins with all three sides at the top looking likely top four contenders. There are a few teams sitting on 7-8 who are theoretically in with a chance but we'd all have to get by the Beeners who are going better than us and they are on the outside looking in. The Q man has had a Qant of a season but his side is finishing strongly enough for a midtable finish and shit draft picks but is a week to late to get an invite to the end of year social.

With two matches to play the relegation picture is much clearer after Mediocre's 'massive performance with the Honey Badgers pretty much gone. They would need to win both handsomely and hope Mediocre gets flogged twice and hope that the Lions don't start winning as well. In a season when much has gone wrong that is too much needed to go right during the last two weeks. Alaska is in trouble as well. Both of the bottom sides could only muster 2200 last week in a round when most other sides, winners and losers, upped the ante. With that extra win both Mediocre and the Sharks are within reach for the Lions but they need to win this week rather than hope for an eleventh hour miracle.

11th hour bailouts are the best. I snuck out of relegation last year thanks to Q's big win and a jeremy howe injury so it can happen Alaska!

Yep. Poor rookie and and a couple Premo selections in the initial squad, a few rage trades, plus a lot of injuries. No point having trades in the bank if you finish outside the 8. Once Fyfe comes back my squad will be full of established players. Couldn't squeeze Whitfield in though which will hurt if I manage to stay in the 8.

Has Been - 278 + Marshall vs Twisties - Gaff, Macrae, Dunkley & Daniel.

Should be close, hoping Marshall doesn't pull out one of his monster scores.

I still have three left, but one rookie still on ground.

**** Marshall 117 to 3qtr time. Not the first time he's sunk me this year

*edit* Macrae and Dunkley junk it up nicely to get the win by 9 pts =D>

18 Honey Badgers 4 12 0 32475 33867 95.89 16

An eleven point loss by the Longwood Lions against Captain Who has all but condemned Alaska's team to Division I next season joining Honey Badgers. Both sides can't make up the percentage on Mediocre at best so the relegation question has been settled. The top four is done and dusted as well with the current top four comfortably nestled in the top four double chance zone.

The only thing that hasn't been decided as yet is who makes the eight out of Has Been and Richo Richo Man. Last week the Beeners won and moved out of the eight and this week they lost and went back in. It is curtains for the rest but at least they can regroup for another title next year.

Round 17 matches

Longwood Lions v Poon llluminati
Ben Rolfsburgers v Captain Who
Honey Badgers v TEAM FISH
REBCats v Richo Richo Man
Delicious v Buddy Franklin
Has Been v Sharks
Mediocre at Best v Q Before You
Eckys Fevolas v Chicken Twisties
Inner Sanctum v Hondo SCC

The Verdict

Benny cleans up the Captain to take the minor premiership. He will take on Delicious in the first Qualifying Final. Poon will face Hondo in the other Quallie. I'm expecting a narrow win for Hondo over Inner Santcum in what should be a beauty to finish the season. Richo Richo and Has Been will both start favourites so this one will come down to percentage. The Sharks thrashed the REBCats last week but the Cats had four out plus a rookie error donut last week so not all is lost for Has Been just yet. What normally happens with my losses is that I normally outscore the team who beat me last week the very next round. On this logic Has Been makes the finals with Richo the Tiger finishing ninth ha ha.

The flag call is very tough. Any of six or seven can win this one but I reckon it might be a case of back to the future for Poon Illuminati who won the first ever Hogg Premier League title as Team Akermanis. Hondo looks the main challenger but both Hondo and Benny Rolfs have a history of choking in August. Chicken Twisties, Inner Santcum and Delcious are proven August performers so perhaps Poony will end up playing Delicious or Sanctum in the big one.

Hogg Premier is a tough gig. Had a shocking run into the bye rounds with some close games. Once again I probably didn't trade hard enough at the start - it is bittersweet to have a high scoring, fully premo, trades in hand team and not be seeing any finals action.

Not quite sure how he did it tbh. Let's gave minute's silence for the dearly departed, Longwood Lions and Honey Badgers.
