Absolute scenes I hear.

Ball was kicked out of a stoppage, flew toward the boundary, siren went. Bit of confusion as to whether it was paid out on the full or not. Umpires deemed the siren went as the ball was still in play, and called time. Another second or two and Valleys would've had a shot to win it.

Huge crowd, lights were great, clubrooms were packed after the game when I went in for a drink. Great setup out there at HV.

And an overturned HV goal?

Can't understand how the umpire over ruled it, the Salisbury Goal umpire was right there with a clear view and payed a goal i was told. Could understand if your own goal umpire and umpire questioned it. Both field umpires had shocking games and watch too much AFL. In the first quarter must have been 7or 8 - 25m paid both ways. Also players from both sides where trying to pick the ball up from ground and where given no prior and given holding the ball, in the end you would be better waiting four some else to get the ball out of the pack because the bloke trying to get the ball had no chance. They where so inconstant which there decisions and players seamed confused and they where suppose to better umpires with div 1/ div 1r having a bye. Had to be the worst umpires i have seen this year in Div 5, most other games the umpires have been alright. Salisbury took there chances and kicked accurate so deserved the win, just a shame a good hard game ruined by two guys in green.

Not sure how Jack Matthews - no 8 from Salisbury didn't make there best 6 online. Had outstanding game and kicked 2 goals and killed Hope Valley in the middle.

Our paper stuff is done by our team manager directly after the siren, not sure the coaching staff worry too much about who he puts in there (he does go close to what is given out at presos but not always spot on). I thought Pemble did a good job on him.

D5 Ladder
26 - Kenilworth (BOS, ROS, LOC, EP)
22 - Hope Valley (SMI, TOS, PUL, BOS)
20 - Pulteney (SAL, SMI, HV, TOS)
16 - Lockleys (TOS, EP, KEN, SAL)
16 - Eastern Park (ROS, LOC, TOS, KEN)
-----------------------------------------------------

16 - Salisbury (PUL, BOS, ROS, LOC)
12 - Smithfield (HV, PUL, BOS, ROS)
06 - Rosewater (EP, KEN, SAL, SMI)
04 - Trinity OS (LOC, HV, EP, PUL)
02 - Blackfriars OS (KEN, SAL, SMI, HV)

Kenilworth have top spot sewn up, cant see them dropping the next couple of games and will certainly welcome the break first week of the finals. Hope Valley's second place chances took a slight hit Saturday with their 3pt loss to Salisbury, but still remain a game clear of Pulteney with a slighlty better draw. The Rd 17 clash could well decide who gets the home final.

Pulteney need one more win to finish top 3, hard closing month will challenge them. Also have second place on the line. Unfortuantely the div has tightened up that much that although one win will get the double chance, zero wins may see them miss the 5 altogether.

Lockleys also have a tough month coming up, closing out with two sides fighting for finals and the other Kenilworth. Games against EP and Salisbury proving absolutely critical.

Eastern Park are beginning to show dangerous signs, but they dont have a great draw either - 2 wins could see them in, 3 and a win vs Lockleys should cement that and a home final.

Salisbury look the biggest threat at the moment - have beaten all the top 3 sides and have a favourable draw from here. They could well win all 4 remaining games and sky rocket into 4th position. Round 18 looms as a belter against Lockleys.

Smithfield still a chance and certainly dangerous, but one would think they'd need to win all their remaining games from here and have results go their way - certainly not out of the question, and their percentage is healthy, and the sides above have 2/4 games against tough opposition.

Rosewater and Trinity will be eager to claim another scalp and ruin someones season whilst beginning preparations for next year, while Blackfriars will provide percentage to opposition sides and a wooden spoon almost certainly guaranteed.

With only a month to go, so much still up in the air and plenty to play for.. depth will begin to play a part and who can get their best side on the park quickest and most often.

D5R Ladder
24 - Salisbury (PUL, BOS, ROS, LOC)
22 - Hope Valley (SMI, TOS, PUL, BOS)
22 - Pulteney (SAL, SMI, HV, TOS)
20 - Kenilworth (BOS, ROS, LOC, EP)
19 - Lockleys (TOS, EP, KEN, SAL)
--------------------------------------

10 - Blackfriars OS (KEN, SAL, SMI, HV)
09 - Smithfield (HV, PUL, BOS, ROS)
08 - Trinity OS (LOC, HV, EP, PUL)
04 - Rosewater (EP, KEN, SAL, SMI)
02 - Eastern Park (ROS, LOC, TOS, KEN)

What a horribly tight division.. frustrating infact. To think a side could well win 13 games and still not finish top 3 highlights this. 3pts separates 2nd from 5th.

Salisbury in the box seat to finish top despite their loss on the weekend, their healthy percentage and the fact they've been the best side all year with good depth and consistency with their side - it's hard to see them faultering.

Kenilworth i think will finish 2nd, they have the softest draw to close out, think they'll win 4/4 and finish on 28 points.

Hope Valley's win on Saturday night has put them in the box seat for the double chance, they play 3 sides outside the 5 in the last month and Pulteney at Hopeless Valley in Rd 17 where they're clearly a far superior side on their own deck.

Pulteney pulled a rabbit out the hat Saturday, only to be trumped by Hope Valley a few hours later, difficult matches in each of the remaining 4 games will be a massive challenge.. sadly could still finish 5th.

Lockleys are a good unit - this is a side that dropped one minor round game last year, they're beginning to wind up now and their 1pt scalp over Pulteney the other week has really shaken things up. TOS, EP in the next fortnight will help build momentum heading into KEN and SAL - if they can jag one of those then 4th place could be on the cards. I know they're striving for a double chance still, may be a bridge too far, but certainly not out of the realms of possibility.

Top 5 is set, cant change, only the pecking order.. expect Smithifeld in the next two weeks to give some headaches though..

Its going to be really interesting finals series once we get there. Mainly for the scheduling. A lot of the same clubs feature. Some clubs will have teams separated on the same day. Something that will most likely be unavoidable..

Presume it is the same with the new last touch rule?

Does the AdFL play last touch?

Before Saturday i was pretty concerned (obviously smart money would've been on Kenilworth to win).. Lockleys within striking distance, I could see week 1 of finals looking like this:

Hope Valley
D5: Hope Valley v Pulteney
D5R: Hope Valley v Kenilworth
C5: Adelaide Uni vs Kenilworth (KFC C grade shot now)

Lockleys
D5: Lockleys v EP/SAL/SMI
D5R: Lockleys v Pulteney
C5: Lockleys v Pulteney

Both Lockleys B/C grade finishing lower on the ladder, but following their A grade gets them the home final. :'(

C5 Ladder
26 - Hope Valley (Can't lose top spot)
24 - Pulteney (Can't lose 2nd spot)
14 - Lockleys
12 - Salisbury
12 - Adelaide Uni
----------------------------------

06 - Kenilworth
04 - Eastern Park
02 - Smithfield

Adelaide Uni and Salisbury both have 4x games remaining, whilst Lockleys have 3 + Bye. Percentage gap is massive though, Lockleys will win their next two comfortably to go to 18pts, before facing Salisbury in the last round. Hard to see Salisbury knocking off either of HV or PUL in the next fortnight, and Uni have the 3 bottom sides in the next month.

Appears the ladder will finish with Adel Uni finishing in 4th position ahead of Salisbury, rest will remain the same.

Week 1 Finals
Pulteney v Lockleys
Adelaide Uni v Salisbury
Hope Valley - Week off.

whilst this would be a great way to play the last game ever in the old clubrooms there is so much water to go under the bridge its damn near a tidal wave..currently Rd 18 will officially be the last game..

anybody with any connection to the club during its history is invited to turn up for one last dance with the old girl..should be a great day and night..

Does an 8 team comp have a top 5? Top 4 would make more sense to me

Good question! I dont know if because Trinity(?) pulled their side late if the league views it as a 9 team div or 8 team div.. :-?

Probably should find out - that would change plenty!

*edit* - confirmed 5 team finals.
