Surely there is a big question mark on Archer at test level. Has he got any form in red ball cricket?

Surprised Patterson didn't make the squad, although he wouldn't have in my 1st Test team. I hope the selectors went for Labushcagne for what he has shown with his batting rather than putting too much credence on his part-timers as a tie-breaker.

What we really need is Travis Head to have been trying to develop medium pacers, maybe only 6 overs an innings, like Doug Walters, Greg Blewett, Mark Waugh, Andrew Symonds etc, as he seems to have a similar outlook on his cricket as those blokes. We don't need Mitchell March to bowl 15-20 overs and come through with the bat 1 in 6 or 8 times, we've got enough of them, they're known as bowlers.

Interesting Ian Chappell had Marnus batting at six in his side. That's where I'd bat him too, a bit like Johnny Bairstow (maybe at 7) in 2013 where a few times the game was in the balance and he stuck around with better credentialled batsmen who did the bulk of the scoring, scored some hard runs himself and took the game away from the Aussies.

I guess we will have to wait and see. I don't rate him so highly and I'm tipping he won't be picked to play in the first test as I'm sure they'll go with Anderson, Broad and Woakes with backup from Stokes. I think he has a long way to go before he can be considered for the test team.

If hes 100% fit he will play the first test. His county record is very good and he offers something we just dont have in real pace and a terrific bouncer. Broad has frankly been poor for 2 years and woakes should play ahead of him. People could argue woakes also hasnt been great in test cricket lately but i think hes back to his best for the first time since the knee injury. Bowling line up will be anderson, woakes, archer, stokes and ali. Good thing about having stokes is it lessens the load on archer.

I'm not a Siddle fan but his form this tour i outstanding and the english have already proved that their pitches dont require speed and value more line and length bowlers. His definitely 5th of the those bowlers but in a long series could very well get a 'test'

I think the former co hosts contracts with Channel 9 finish August 1st (I’m sure I read that somewhere)

Taylor & Healy have been the hosts throughout the World Cup and the women's part of the Ashes tour.
