It was but oddly enough Broad didn’t really appeal so it mustn’t have looked as clear at that end.

First hour of day four will be edge of the seat stuff. Our two best batsmen need to get back in and build towards a lead of 200. Need something from Wade (or else he may join Bancroft in the stands for the second Test) and bats 7 thru 9 need to offer better resistance.
200 lead will be a big Test for the poms against a decent 4th innings bowling attack on a pitch which will noot be easy if we stretch out to Day 5.

In the first innings we got probably an additional 140 runs than we should have. The poms then returned serve and got another 45-50 themselves. I wonder whether that gap will come back and bite them on the arse....

That pie chucker in the past year has taken 47 wickets at 24 and been the leading wicket tacker in the tests over that period. He bowlwd poorly last night but bit disrespectful to call him a pie chucker.

Smith is the key once again, the man is a genius with bat in hand.

Rubbish, he is a pie chucker to most Australian batsman. Smith averages 100 against him.
Now on the other hand he's a great player of spin himself

He was awful in Australia with the ball but most spinners are, cant recall many spinners with good records here. In england hes turned into a good bowler. Smith is a freak so it just shows mooen isnt a great bowler but no one said he is, hes a good bowler though. As for his batting, that is well and truly shot has to bat below woakes.

Nah, Moeen = pie chucker, albeit a pie chucker who gets wickets.

I remember Warner getting out twice to him in the 2015 Ashes to full tosses as high as his belt buckle.

As good as Smith was in the first innings, last night he was even better. Toyed with the English bowlers. The Poms held any number of on field committee meetings to try and stop him from scoring, but he was in complete control. Hopefully England will spend all their time trying to solve the Smith problem which will allow Head and Wade to play innings of substance. If I was England I would just concede to Smith and put all energy into the other guy.

Nathan Lyon is currently on 346 test wickets and needs only 9 to surpass Dennis Lillee's mark of 355 to go to third on the most test match wickets for Australia list.

Pete Siddle has 216, equal with Clarrie Grimment and is 13th on the list.
Pat Cummins has 97 and is just behind Arthur Mailey and Ben Hilfenhaus who have 99.

It's not totally beyond the realms of possibility that Lyon could overtake McGrath.

Time for Travis Head to go on with it today.

Over his career (for Redbacks also), he continually gets out after lunch/tea break or stumps break.

He did it again in 1st innings getting out straight after lunch.

Cannot let it happen again today!

totally agree, in fact cannot really recall any innings where he has been n.o. at stumps and then gone on the following day to a big score

Great call

A big innings today could mark the beginning of being a consistent quality test cricketer

I hope he remembers all the times I used to bounce him when he was ten years old at the OSHC I used to work at. That will give him confidence hahahaha

I’m nervous, excited and fearful all in the same second for tonight’s play. A lead of 275+ and it’s game seriously on imo

A lead of 220 and we're favourites, weather permitting.

as weird as this sounds but 150-170 might be harder to chase than 220plus
