I love how teams our falling over themselves not to make the 8 but the AFL thinks we need a wild card game in the week between Rd 23 and finals.

Yeah, what a load of snot, if anything, they should limit it to top 6, otherwise use the week off (if there is one) for 7th to play 10th and 8th to play 9th for the last two spots.

Either way, you've had 22 games to prove if you're good enough, most of the time the bottom 4 are just making up the numbers, anyone know where there's a list of who has won from what position?
If I recall correctly, and someone tell me if I'm wrong but I have a feeling the Dogs won it from 7th a couple years ago...

I could be wrong though... [emoji848]

How wrong we all were.

I still get a massive LOL out of the guy who tipped Powell - Pepper to be top 10 in the Brownlow

Wouldn't rule them out of top 4, given there seems to be little that separates the 8 these days, but I kinda see it the same as you mate .. Still a huge over-reliance on Jacobs and Talia

If the Crows make the top four next year I'll adopt an Adelaide Crows avatar for the 2019/20 summer. It won't happen.

Crows were 3rd after round 8 does that count :D

We would need the near perfect season to finish 5th

I see us in the 7 to 11 range, things go well for us with some young legs with speed and we actually try to win games not save them and we sneak in 7th or 8th. Or we stick to the same old defensive mind set which hasn't worked for us and we'll be flat track bullies at home and finish 10th or 11th.

JK wrote:Barring a poor run with injury I can't see how Essendon can miss the 8.

They have an outstanding group of small forwards in Fantasia, Tippingwitu and Smith. Stringer has apparently put in more pre-season minutes at Windy Hill than any other Bomber and sounds as though he has really set himself for a big year. Stewart is a decent focal point (although Hooker and/or Hurley could run through there too) and Daniher has the genuine potential to be Buddyesque at some point in his career.

Shiel helps bolster a midfield that needed, but added with younger players' development they look stronger there than in 2018. The names down back look sound enough and I expect McGrath to improve again and players like him and Saad give them great rebound. Hope they can stay relatively healthy, because if they do the Bombers will quite possibly be the most exciting side to watch this season.

Good call.

How does Richmond get to play their remaining 7 rounds at the G?
