I don't like the guy personally but the numbers don't lie and we're there to win games, all I can hope is that the recent events can turn some of these "unlikable" blokes into players that just go out there and get the job done.

Hats off to Warner for showing his pockets when he was getting sledged by the crowd, perhaps it took a big negative for us to become a positive.

We were always arrogant, we were always aggressive and played the game fierce, we lost track of that over the years and came across as front-running sooks, yes we bottomed out and copped some hidings for a little while but respect is earnt, not demanded.

Moving forward, we have another two openers waiting in the wings, a few middle/upper order batsmen, a couple of them can bowl, another keeper and another couple of front line bowlers, the bottoming out process has made the fight for a spot on the team alive and we can only prosper from it.

Agree about Warner.

Early indications are that just maybe he has learnt from the lessons gone. Here's hoping anyway.

It's the right way to win back your followers.

I heard a funny interview yesterday from Andy Lee who was at Edgbaston with his dad, they were sitting near the barmy army and just after Smith got out in the first dig and they had finished a song, a lone Aussie stood up at sung out "Ireland bowled you out for 85"
Then the rest of the 1000 strong Aussie contingent joined in to complete the verse:

Ireland bowled you out for 85
Ireland bowled you out for 85
Ireland bowled you out
Ireland bowled you out
Ireland bowled you out for 85

The guy was hailed a hero and I doubt he paid for another beer for the remainder of the day.

A couple of lads from Blyth went over for the match and were on tv many times.

The footy club were watching the game Saturday Night and every time the two guys got on tv with a beer in their hand everyone had to skull the entire drink that was in their hand. I heard it was a messy night at the club.

Australia start their 4 day tour match against Worcestershire today, Worcestershire won the toss and elected to bowl- a great opportunity for the batsman, especially Bancroft and Khawaja to get some more time in the middle.
Australian eleven-
Bancroft
Harris
Khawaja
Head
Labuschagne
Marsh
Wade

Attended this match in 2013. A Shane Watson ton before lunch and you were allowed to bring in 4 cans of beer with you.......568ml cans as well. Don't remember shit after tea that day apart from rain at some point in the last session

Don’t think they would make the swap after one test, a winning test, anyway.

Keeping for another day or two would be tough on the body, would make sense to give him a break from the gloves, I don't see him losing his spot in the team for this series and probably the Aus summer.
Dave Warner will be missed!

Olly stone is now also out for england with a back injury. He was showing a lot of promise and might have been played at some point this series with his extra pace and ability to move the ball. No Anderson, wood or stone available, lots of pressure on archer, broad and woakes to be healthy the remaining 4 tests.

Joel Wilson still wouldn’t give it out, Worcestershire had to review it :)

Seems alot of chat about Bancroft getting the chop, no mention of Mr Warner at this stage.

Note Bancroft scored more runs and faced more delieveries in the 1st test than Warner

If he fails in the 2nd test surely his head would be on the chopping block
