The South-East Melbourne Phoenix have completed their roster with the signing of third import Keith Benson a 6'11" PF/C. He had a brief stint in the NBA with Golden State and played last season in Germany.

The Perth Wildcats have completed their roster announcing the signing of their third import Dario Hunt a 6'9" PF who played in Belgium last season as the replacement for Angus Brandt who has signed with a team in Italy.

Big weekend for the Cairns Taipans tonight announcing they've finally re-signed Nathan Jawai for next season. After last season ended Jawai finished the season playing in France.

Also yesterday new Taipans signing veteran big Tom Jervis announced he's decided to retire instead. Jervis won three NBL championships with Perth.

The NZ Breakers have completed their roster today announcing three signings. First comes import Sek Henry a 6'4" SG who played last season in Turkey. They've also signed another import in 6'9" centre Chris Obekpa a Nigerian who played in Lebanon last season and lastly a face familiar to the NBL in Sudanese born Australian Ater Majok a 6'10" F/C who has also been playing in Lebanon and had stints with Perth & Gold Coast in the 2010-11 NBL season.

In an early start to pre-season games California Baptist University are currently out here on tour and tonight lost to the Cairns Taipans 85-76. For the Taipans Mirko Djeric scored 17 points, Nathan Jawai had 15 and Kouat Noi 13 and for the Lancers Brandon Boyd scored 23 points and Ferron Flavors Jr added 14.

A couple of days ago CBU also played a pre-season game against a very depleted Melbourne United team winning 79-78. The Lancers were led by Aussie Tre Armstrong scoring 22 points and Ferron Flavors Jr scoring 18 and for United David Barlow scored 30 points and fill-in's Jo Lual-Acuil had 17 and Lual Diing added 11 points.

The Cairns Taipans have announced the signing of their second import Scott Machado a 6'1" PG who finished last season in the NBA playing for the LA Lakers and also played in the G-League last season. Machado has also played for Houston and is a member of the Brazilian national team.

Also last night the Taipans played a pre-season game against the touring Creighton University losing 89-85. Top scorers for the Bluejays were Davion Mintz with 18 and Damien Jefferson with 17 and for the Taipans Kouat Noi scored 26 points and Nathan Jawai added 17.

The 36ers today announced their four development players for the season ahead. Bijan Johnson returns and Alex Mudronja was signed in May joining them are Michael Harris who plays for Forestville in the state league where he just won the award for best Under 20 player in the comp and Victorian Ben Ayre who returns home from Newman University in the US and just played for Nunawading in the NBL1 league this off-season.

Also tonight a Brisbane Bullets Invitational team lost a pre-season game to touring Creighton University 107-79. For the Bluejays Christian Bishop scored 25 points and Mitch Ballock added 21 and for the Bullets team Jason Cadee scored 16 points and Chris Whitehead had 12 points.

The Cairns Taipans have announced the signings of their last two local players George Blagojevic a 6'8" forward who just finished his college career at the University of Hartford and played with the Cairns Marlins in the QBL during the off-season.

The other local player signing by the Taipans has seen development player Anthony Fisher elevated to the full roster. The 6'2" PG has spent five years as a development player with Perth & the Taipans and also plays for the Cairns Marlins during the off-season.

Melbourne United played a pre-season game today against the touring Zhejiang Guangsha Lions from China winning 97-77. For United Jo Lual-Acuil scored 20 points, Sam McDaniel had 17 and Mitch McCarron added 15 and for the Lions Hu Jinqiu scored 24 points and Liu Cheng 20 points.

The 36ers are currently in Manilla to play a couple of games against the Philippines national team as part of their World Cup preparations and lost the first game last night 92-83. For the Philippines former NBA centre Andray Blatche scored 19 points and Japeth Aguilar had 17 and for the 36ers Ramone Moore had 16 and Harry Froling added 11 points.

The Sydney Kings have completed their roster with the announcement they've signed veteran PF Lucas Walker who played for Nunawading in the NBL1 during the off-season and played for the Taipans last season.

A few NBL pre-season results tonight the 36ers beat the Perth Wildcats in Mandurah 90-84. For the Sixers Deshon Taylor scored 20 points and Eric Griffin had 15 and for the Wildcats Bryce Cotton scored 23 and Damian Martin added 11 points.

Also tonight the Cairns Taipans beat the South-East Melbourne Phoenix 106-102 in OT in Melbourne. Leading the Taipans was DJ Newbill with 26 and Majok Deng scored 20 and for the Phoenix John Roberson scored 25 and Kendall Stephens had 19 points.

Last night Melbourne United beat the touring Shanxi Loongs from China 111-66. For United Shawn Long scored 22 points and Dillon Stith added 21 points and for the Loongs Zhang Zhang scored 18 points.

Young Aussie and former Sydney Kings development player William McDowell-White has signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets and former Cairns Taipans import Devon Hall has also signed a two-way contract with the team that drafted him Oklahoma City Thunder.

Tonight the Illawarra Hawks played a pre-season game against the Australian Indigenous All-Stars winning 110-87. For the Hawks Todd Blanchfield scored 14 points and LaMelo Ball and Aaron Brooks each scored 12 points and for the Indigenous team William Hickey scored 25 points, Chris Cedar had 14 and Tyson Demos added 13 points.
