How much longer can we continue to carry Paine, lets be honest, he should be batting at 9 after both Pattinson and Cummins. His keeping hasn't been great either.

If Australia lose the Ashes he’s gone, if not, he will get the Summer against Pakistan.

The site is obviously a bit keen to make Stan look silly. It was Archer that destroyed us but Broad did bowl very well

Good comeback and nice to see us skittle the tail for once. The most underrated impact of archer will be his ability to skittle the tail which we have lacked. Its hugely important and its a hugely underrated thing starc does. Broad was really good again.

Scarey to think how many wickets Archer will get in the rest of the series.

He's got inside the Aussies head IMO

whilst there was some excellent bowling there ended up being some very inept batting

Happy they made the change but not real happy it's Bancroft dropped instead of Warner.

Thank God the selectors kept faith in Warner.

Archer is a jet and Broad in overcast conditions is always tough but lets face it...our batsmen stink.
They had the chance to show what theyve got but only Warner Smith and Head are good enough at this level with Labuschagne the best of the rest.
Wade one score 4 duds. No second opener. Khawaja on borrowed time. And nothing on the sidelines.

Poms KOTD with conditions again.
Our score is better than I expected and if we get the same conditions for Day 2 we will skittle these jokers and have a lead

Didn't paine say you were going to bat anyway? But yes if you have the overheads we did we seriously struggle to get 150.

Exactly what I was saying before. I know Archer got the break through, but bloody hell Broad will destroy us today.

How good is it seeing ball dominate bat for a change?

Geez Joffra looked dangerous.

Did anyone see the footage of Joffra mimicking Steve Smith in the nets? Copped a fair backlash but I think we sook just as much as the Poms, nothing in it, play on, I found it humourous if anything and it was to a tee.

We are a frail batting line-up with a Smith-like player to stand up.

We drop Laracroft in an instance but maintain Wade who has the easiest batting spot in the order, going in with two lefties opening is flirting with danger, having #3 a lefty after that is just plain stupid.

At least safoooty's own David Warner showed some ticker.

Well done to Warner for making a score.. battled through a tricky period yesterday and fortunate not to knick away early, but got the runs none the less.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Our current batting stocks are better than they have been for about a decade (not that that's saying much) as evidenced by our dropping two guys who made 100s in our last test before the Ashes.

The fact that the Marshes don't get a gig also shows that our batting depth is improved.

The 179 we made is equivalent to 450 on a flat Adelaide Oval wicket, so I wouldn't get too down on ourselves, although if conditions are better tonight England certainly have the upper hand.
