Never call for a review you don't already know the answer to, everyone's doing a good job well done boys.

Silly question but what the hell would Pav know about running a business/football club?

Dunstall’s held many roles at Hawthorn so I see value there but Pav?

Pretty sure Pav does run a few businesses plus was the President of the AFLPA and he's an SA boy, which the Crowies love

What would they have to pay Pavlich and Dunstall to carry out this review?
What would their interest be in making the Crows better? May as well have got Kane Cornes to do it, now that would be a review :D

They are paying them whatever they have to for them to tell them what they want to hear ;)

Interesting pair. You could use Pav's massive snoz to hold up Dunstall's massive mellon of a bonce. All you need now is the the world's biggest mouth in Graham Cornes and you've got Luna Park in Adelaide at last.

Two AFL greats have questioned Adelaide’s big-name external panellist appointments — and Crows players themselves are wary of divulging too much information.

Adelaide last week announced a four-person panel to conduct an external review into the on-field and off-field performance of the club following the club’s poor season.

On Friday, the Crows revealed Jason Dunstall, Hawthorn’s legendary goalkicker, would chair the external review committee, while Fremantle legend Matthew Pavlich would also be involved.

AFL Media reported on Monday night that some Crows players had questioned the merit of having two media commentators on the committee and whether they’d reveal much information to the likes of Dunstall and Pavlich during interviews.

It comes after foxfooty.com.au reported some Adelaide players feared the club was determined to move on from senior coach Don Pyke after they were fed a loaded question in a survey distributed to the playing group.

Speaking on Fox Footy’s On The Couch, Roos described the appointments of Dunstall and Pavlich as “unusual”.

“I’m sure Jason has done it before, I guess with the Hawthorn one where he was more invested in that situation then perhaps he is now. (But) I was staggered … probably more from Jason’s point of view,” Roos said.

“We know how hard it is in the media to dissect teams that you’re involved in and I think you put yourself in jeopardy, to be honest, when you’re actually starting to do a review.

“Let’s say the review comes out from Matthew Pavlich and Jason Dunstall that we’ve got to get rid of (Andrew) Fagan, Pyke, (Brett) Burton and (Mark) Ricciuto. That becomes public, that happens and Jason and Matthew are working at Fox Footy for the next five to 10 years. It’s a big responsibility to be able to put your name to that.”

A key figure in Hawthorn’s four-flag era, Dunstall made the unpopular decision to appoint Alastair Clarkson as Hawks coach in 2004 when the club was in a world of pain.

Melbourne champion Garry Lyon said Dunstall was an “outstanding operator”, but questioned why the Hawks champion would help the Crows out.

“The first question would be: What’s the motivation?” Lyon asked on Fox Footy.

“If it’s out of the goodness of your own heart because you love footy, then I would take my hat off to him, because that’s a totally admirable thing to do. I doubt that’s the case, but I would love to know why.

“It’s an enormous responsibility. They’ve effectively handed over the keys to the car and said: ‘Here ‘Chief’, you drive it and tell us where we need to go and what we need to get fixed.’

“The unusual part for me is that if it was Hawthorn, I’d go ‘I get it, he bleeds brown and gold’. But Adelaide, I’m going ‘interesting’.”

Brownlow Medallist Gerard Healy questioned the notion of the external review, particularly in the immediate aftermath of the Crows’ 2019 season.

“I find it difficult to see how they can actually observe the place operating in football time when everybody’s gone, you’re not there seven days a week, you’re not there 24 hours of the day,” Healy told On The Couch.

“You just wonder what observations they are going to be able to make. You can ask questions, you get answers, but you’ve got nothing to crosscheck it off.”

I'm not sure when AFC will realise that they need to ask the media how to run their club

It seems a reasonable discussion point, does it not?

I'd be more worried about their ( Dunstall / Pavlich ) ability to keep their findings, thoughts etc from slipping out in their media role than whether or not their heart is in it.
